Records & Bands

In which our hero talks s*** about superhero songs.

I've made a little playlist with songs about superheroes. Not songs used in superhero movies or theme tunes and those that use the Superman, Daredevil or Hero metaphor. No, these songs are explicity written about comic book characters. I've ended up with 9 songs and a couple of honourable mentions.

You can listen to the songs I've chosen on Apple Music or Spotify and let me know of any I should consider on our social media or on the website. (please note it's a different version of Nobody Loves The Hulk on Spotify but it still bangs!)

In which our heroes talk s*** about the debut album from ska legends, The Specials.

We're joined by Aaron Lewis (Last Jedi on the Left) to talk about his favourite record, The Specials.

After releasing their first single, Gangsters, and sparking somewhat of a musical revolution, The Specials released their eponymous debut record on the 2 Tone label and established their unique style and their legacy as Ska and Ska-punk legends. There is no denying the impact of this album and the band on so many ska tinged bands that came after.

Join us as we get into the record and chose our favourite tracks, the bits we wished we'd written and discuss their impact and legacy on the punk scene.

In which our heroes talk s*** about some of the records and bands they've been listening to recently.

Rob and Leon get together for a chat around some of the bands they've been playing, playlists they've had on and albums they've rediscovered including Baby Metal, Paramore, Zakk Wylde and INXS. I know, eclectic!

They also chat about great vocalists vs great musicians, the pressures of commercial and artistic success and Rob explains how he fell in love with Manic Street Preachers, left them behind and has gone back to them again like a long forgotten, but ever so tender, lover.

Some good chat in this one and some interesting tracks to share. Here's a playlist of some of the songs and artists we speak of on Apple Music

In which our heroes talk s*** about Hello Rockview by Less Than Jake

This week we're joined by Jamie (The Talking Dad) and Aaron Lewis (Last Jedi On The Left) to talk ska punk, low slung bass guitars and Gainesville legends, Less Than Jake.

Best songs, skippable bits and Phwoar! I wish I'd written that moments all come up as we get into Hello Rockview which turns a worryingly 25 years old this year.
