Adversity should be his middle name (it's not); no matter the circumstance, Paul Jr. finds himself drawn to helping others, and making his losses his lessons.
At 29 years old, Paul Thomas O'Hara, Jr. (our Host Lori Windfeldt's nephew) has turned his life of tragedy into triumph.
Growing up in the shadow of his deceased father (whom he resembles in so many ways), Paul Jr. was just 2 years old when Paul Sr. died in a fiery explosion.
Living with his twin sister Madison, and Mother Amanda, Paul's life was what some (including him) would consider 'normal' - however, it was far from that.
Listen to Lori and Paul Jr.'s special conversation, as they share each other's struggles with staying basic and finding the power to go beyond surviving, and start thriving.
Just when you think you've heard it all... there's a "yeah, but then..."
TRIGGER WARNING: explicit discussions of addiction, police brutality, suicide, severe abuse

I have worked in the health care field since 2004 in a variety of positions ranging from bodywork, medical billing, harm reduction, HIV and hepatitis C testing and counseling, case management, housing programs (HOPWA and Ryan White Part B), outreach, assertive community treatment (ACT) case management for people experiencing homelessness, psychiatric case management, drug and alcohol counseling, program development, grant writing and management, and I am a certified peer recovery support specialist. I completed my Master of Arts in Anthropology (with a focus on medical anthropology) at the University of Nevada, Reno. My graduate research focused on the ways in which harm reduction as a counter discourse helped to frame and maintain the radically inclusive social space of a local syringe services program for people marginalized and excluded elsewhere. I have been in recovery since February 2002. I am passionate about peer recovery, overdose prevention, harm reduction, and helping others achieve their full potential of living a purposeful life. I am a program specialist for the county’s Human Services Agency, work as a research assistant at the University of Nevada’s School of Community Health Science doing harm reduction research, serve as the chair for the Interagency Council on Homelessness to Housing, conduct volunteer harm reduction outreach in my community and volunteer serving meals to people experiencing homelessness. I also founded a writing group called Voices of Inspiration, Courage, and Empowerment (VOICE) for people experiencing or recovering from homelessness. I am excited about pursuing a DrPH to advance my knowledge and skill set in this field and enhance the ability for people without a voice to engage in participation in public health dialogue.
A prominent advocate, speaker, author, and media commentator, Ryan Hampton travels coast-to-coast to add solutions to our national addiction crisis. In recovery from a decade-long opioid addiction, Hampton has rocketed to the center of America’s rising addiction recovery advocacy movement. An alumnus of the Clinton White House, he’s worked with multiple non-profits and national recovery advocacy campaigns. He is now a prominent, leading face and voice of recovery advocacy and is changing the national conversation about addiction.
With content that reaches millions each month, Ryan breaks down cultural barriers that have kept people suffering in silence and is inspiring a new generation of people recovering out loud through his Voices Project.
He was part of the core team that released the first-ever U.S. Surgeon General’s report on addiction in 2016 and was singled out by Forbes as a top social entrepreneur in the recovery movement. Ryan connects a vast network of people who are passionate about ending the overdose crisis in America. He has been featured by—and is a contributor to—media outlets such as USA Today, MSNBC, Fox and Friends, the New York Times, NPR, HLN, Vice, Forbes, Slate, HuffPost, The Hill, the Wall Street Journal, and others.
Ryan has received praise from Democrats and Republicans alike for addressing addiction as a trans-political issue—crossing the political spectrum to build an inclusive coalition focused on solutions. He worked closely with the White House, Senate Democrats, Republicans, and U.S. House leadership, helping craft portions of the historic H.R. 6, SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, signed into law in October 2018.
In 2016, he created the web series Addiction Across America, documenting his 30-day, 28 state, 8,000-mile cross-country trip visiting areas hit hardest by the addiction crisis. His first book, “American Fix — Inside the Opioid Addiction Crisis and How to End It,” was released by St. Martin’s Press in August 2018.
In 2019, Ryan was named by Facebook as an inaugural leadership fellow and created the national advocacy initiative, Mobilize Recovery. Since its inception, Mobilize Recovery has recruited and trained over 2,000 new advocates from all 50 states focused on community-based solutions to end the addiction crisis.
He lives in Nevada with his fiancé, Sean.

APRIL 2021 Eden began her career as a consultant and beauty expert in Beverly Hills. She gained critical acclamation after appearing in the popular BRAVO TV series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She entered the show on its seventh season and captured the attention of the viewers in no time.
As the daughter of the late beauty icon Vidal Sassoon and Beverly Adams, Eden is no stranger to the LA lifestyle, that once brought her to her knees.
Living in recovery from alcohol use disorder, and being a self-professed addict, Eden shares with Lori all things family (Dad, ex-husband, children and siblings). A tender moment when discussing Eden's sister Katya's untimely (but timely) death.
There is no topic off limits as Eden openly discusses her time (and current opinions) of the Bravo TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the struggles of being a single momma (though also the 3rd wheel of her ex-husband [baby daddy] and new wife's relationship), her new adventure with SWAY TV and AMAZON LIVE... oh, and the chaffing that occurs when riding the Peloton exercise bike.
These two get right in to it and promise a follow up episode as they have just scratched the surface of The Woman Behind the Name.
