This week we looked at how a baby, who was born in weakness and poverty, threatened Herod the King with all his wealth and power, and the implications of this for us this Christmas season.

We began our study of James 10 weeks ago being called to steadfast endurance when trials come our way. This week James will end his letter calling his readers to patience and prayer as those same trials continue to happen. "What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." James stops us in our tracks this week and reminds us of a right perspective on life as we live on this earth.

Last week we examined the danger of an uncontrolled tongue and the consequence of living lives without restraint. This week James will turn our attention to making wise choices. So how do you know if you are making a wise choice? Well to put it plainly the outcome will tell. This week we looked at Wisdom and its effect on our lives in James 3:13-4:12.

Did you know that every persons tongue has its own unique tongue print? How about the fact the tongue is the strongest muscle in the body? Or that it even keeps working while you are sleeping. We often forget that such a small part of our body has such unique features. This week James reminds us that the tongue also can cause severe damage and must be controlled. Sunday we looked at taming the tongue in James 3:1-12.

In this passage, James describes how faith without works is dead and that there has to be tangible action to show our faith. Listen in as we walk through this difficult but critical passage.

Daily we are surrounded by the reality of social inequality in our city. The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. How does the gospel call us to live in the reality of this paradigm? Sunday we looked at partiality in the church and our community.

This week James challenges 'Religion' and calls for a Christian people that truly loves and cares for the widows and orphans in their afflications.

Have you deceived yourself lately? More specifically, have you deceived yourself as you listened to a sermon or read your Bible? (Of course, if you did deceive yourself, you probably don't know it -- because you're deceived.) This week we looked at James’ insight into how many Christians deceive themselves while they listen to God's Word.

The true test of a Christians faith comes during trials. This week we examined James 1:12-18. If you or someone you know is going through a trial this Sunday's message is a chance to be encouraged by God's Word.
