In this sermon, we see that since Jesus has rescued us from the eternal punishment we deserve, reconciled us back to God the Father and made us partakers of His glorious Kingdom, we must be about the business of living to expand His eternal and glorious Kingdom instead of focusing on our own little finite kingdoms.

As believers, we eagerly await the second coming of Christ because we have joy and hope in the promise of eternity, and that will affect both our walk with Christ and our outlook on life and suffering as we live in this present life.

Christmas (Jesus' incarnation) was the very beginning of the world's greatest rescue mission, where God sent his unique Son, Jesus, to come to the earth to rescue his people from eternal punishment, free them from their slavery, forever defeat death, restore their fellowship with God and other men, and give them eternal life that starts now, but will not ultimately be fulfilled until Jesus comes again to sum up all things.

Jesus once again demonstrates His divinity as He miraculously heals an invalid. This miracle and what it said about Jesus was absolutely missed by the most religious people of the day, which should serve as a warning to us, since they missed the glory of God in Christ by focusing on their man-made rules.

Jesus is worthy of our worship because He gives the living water of eternal life and because He is the Messiah, the Savior of the world, who redeems us, sinful people, without distinction of ethnicity or background.

Jesus is the divine Messiah who has come from heaven to perfectly reveal the Father to us and to call out His bride, the church. Some will believe in Jesus, finding their joy in making much of Him, and culminating in spending eternity with Him, while others will reject Him and face the eternal wrath of God.

God's amazing love for our dark and depraved world should absolutely astound us as we see Him send His unique Son into this world in order to save whoever might believe. While many reject his love because they love the darkness, the only proper response is a humble, grateful, joyful, life-changing reception of the Son.

Many people make professions of faith in Jesus that turn out to be spurious. If you truly want to enter the kingdom of God (have eternal life) you must be born again, which only happens by the power of the Holy Spirit and always produces lasting results.

In order to walk in the way that pleases God and that proves our salvation to be true, we must resist being deluded by earthly wisdom, and we must possess the saving wisdom of God, Jesus Christ Himself.
