As we work through John’s account of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus we come to the betrayal by Judas and the initial arrest of Jesus. And yet, though it is Christ’s darkest hour we also see him preserve his own and move towards the cross with courage and willingness.

In this sermon we continue look at John 17 where Jesus prays to the Father just prior to his betrayal and crucifixion. Dave helps us to think closely about the beauty and depth of this prayer and its implications for the children of God.

As we see yet another picture of the churches role in the last days, we see the church portrayed as two witnesses, faithfully proclaiming the Word of God and eventually being martyred for it, just as Christ our Lord was. But in the end we also see the victory of God in the resurrection!

While the Word of God is precious and delightful to the believer, it also brings the bitter result of conflict and even persecution at times. We see this reality illustrated for John in a similar way it was for Ezekiel and also for Jerimiah.
