We pick up here where we left off discussing becoming partners

in the Gospel. Last week we were reminded of what a partner is

and what a partner does and that partners are partners through

thick and thin, in the good and bad. This week we focus on how

growing both our individual and corporate ministries, as

partners, requires humility and surrender.

We pick up our discussion with Jesus' words in Matthew 8 as we

look deeper at what it means to grow as partners in the Gospel.

In the final week of our Deployed series, we finish 1 Samuel 17 with verses 48-58. We’ll see David confidently charge into battle to meet and ultimately defeat Goliath. David provides one of the most striking examples of overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds through faith and reliance on God. Week 3 of our Deployed series picks up in 1 Samuel 17:31. Here, the focus is David's courageous response to the Philistine giant, Goliath — despite being significantly smaller and less equipped. As we work to become Dangerous Friends, it’s vital that we understand, like David, how to stir up the boldness to show up for the battles God calls us to.

This week, we walk through 4 more deployment principles to see how we can follow David’s example of unlikely courage. Over andover again in Scripture, God pours out His Spirit and uses those who are willing to be obedient, brave, and willing to go first.

Last week, we looked at 8 ways to identify and deal with the enemy. Now, we pick up in 1 Samuel 17:12 to see that David had returned to the fields. He humbly returned to serving as an errand boy while his three oldest brothers had accompanied the King to the battlefield.In week 2 of our series, Deployed, we continue to learn how to become dangerous friends as we learn five deployment principles from David’s story. Unlike the Israelites (and David’s brothers), who were cowering in fear, David submitted to God —faithfully serving both his father and the King. He devoted himself to the Lord — allowing God to prepare (develop) and lead (deploy) him.
