Every human is looking for peace at the soul level and we can only experience that peace in Christ. When you give yourself to anything except God, trying to find happiness there, you will be disappointed. It’s only a matter of time.

Jesus is offering you an inner peace that’s dependent on His goodness, not on your circumstances

• We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus.
• Sufferings -> Endurance -> Character -> Hope

Justified by Faith
Romans 4

By faith, we are credited with Jesus’ righteousness, and in response to God’s grace and love, we transfer our trust from ourselves and our way to Him and His way.

• If Abraham was justified by his faith in God, then everyone else must be 
  justified in the same way.
• To be justified is to receive credited righteousness.
• The Law cannot be the route to salvation. Jesus is the only Way.

Our God is the God of grace and He always has been! When God gives laws, it’s a grace on our lives. Abiding by God’s laws is a path toward flourishing.

• Because God loves His people, He gave them the Law.
• The law is grace. God’s Law shepherds us toward God’s good way.
• Everything that is in the law and the prophets culminates in Jesus Christ, and He is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets!

Sin is a heart condition–one we can’t defeat & overcome on our own. We’re sinners, all of us, & that’s bad. But it’s good news at the same time because Jesus has taken care of it for us. Jesus perfectly paid the penalty for our sins & gives us opportunity for forgiveness & grace when we put our faith in Him.

• Only grace can change our status with God.
• Our unfaithfulness doesn’t change God’s faithfulness.
• The entire human race needs divine grace.

We’re surrounded, everywhere we go, with people. Yet tons of people are left feeling without connection and have no one to share a meal with.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost, and He felt there was no better way to accomplish that mission than to have dinner with friends.
God gave you that dinner table for His glory. God allowed you a place to live so that He could be shared with your neighbors, coworkers, the people you work out with, and more.

Kindness Leads to Repentance
Romans 2:1-5

In chapter 2, Paul shows that religious people can reject God by making their own good works an idol. Focused on themselves instead of Jesus.

• Religious people need the gospel just as much as non-religious people.

God’s kindness leads us to repentance. And then we mimic God in this way...our kindness, not our judgment, will lead lost people to Jesus.

How do we, as God’s people, live for what’s right and not judge?

• 1st Practice: Notice your sin before critiquing their sin.
• 2nd Practice: Show radical kindness to those around me.

Trading the Truth for a Lie
Romans 1:18-32

In Rome, they suppressed the plain truth about God and didn’t honor God, so they faced the consequences of their sin by trading the truth for a lie.
When we say, “Welcome Home,” we mean that anyone can be at home here. And at the same time, we don’t suppress the truth or invite God’s wrath by practicing things that He says are sinful.

How do we even more become a church where people can speak openly about themselves while we hold true to what God says? We suffer and love well. We make it about Jesus, and we build a beautiful family of God where there’s room for everyone at the table.

Romans: The Heart of the Gospel
Romans 1:1-17

Romans is all about the gospel. Paul wrote this letter to the Church in Rome because he wanted them to first understand the gospel, then he wanted them to experience the gospel. 

• Jesus is the Person to whom and from whom all of history flows. 
• Every page of Scripture points to Christ!
• Jesus fulfilled over three hundred prophecies because Jesus is the One who was promised beforehand, through the prophets in the old testament.
• The Gospel is for everyone!

God prunes us through both pain and prosperity.
