Our sin must be atoned for, for us to be reconciled to God, A propitiation must be made. God the Father sets forth God the Son to be a propitiation. It was not mankind who took the initiative to make things right with God. God Himself  took the initiative to reconcile with us…because He loves us. 

Real peace, an abundant life is only found in a relationship with Christ.

I Am: The Good Shepherd
John 10:11-15

The bible calls Jesus the Good Shepherd because Jesus is not afraid of the wolf of fear, the bear of doubt or the panther of temptation. In fact, the bible says that God's rescue mission was completed in the work of Jesus and was fulfilled on the cross, when Jesus defeated the ultimate monsters that approached His sheep, Sin and Death.

God doesn’t promise a problem free life, but He does promise to give you a life full of joy, guidance, protection and  purpose through His son Christ Jesus: The Good Shepherd

Ask Yourself:

• Who is my shepherd? 
• Whose voice do I listen to for direction? 
• Is Jesus the Shepherd of my life?

• Trust God to do His work in His time in His way.
• Death doesn’t win matched against the power of Jesus.
• Our hope is in the future resurrection, but it’s also in the present reality of our victory over sin & death through Jesus Christ.

Jesus being the Door of the sheep brings a sometimes difficult truth into the light… He’s the only One who can save. No other god, no other promise, no other way, can deliver you happiness, hope, freedom. No other one can deliver you to God, except Jesus. He’s the Door. 

• Sheep need a shepherd
• I can find rest in the Shepherd

But… That’s who He is… Jesus accepts people. Jesus welcomes
every kind of person.
Jesus always made the party better.
If we own the mission of accepting people like Jesus did and
offering them forgiveness from God…
- Take a step.
- Build a bridge.
- Make an invitation

What is biblical forgiveness? The most powerful person in your life might the person you refuse to forgive. And it may be difficult to forgive that person, but there is freedom for you on the other side of that forgiveness.

4-step process for you to grow in Christ:

1. Be forgiven by Jesus
2. Forgive the person
3. Release the debt
4. Reconcile or Heal with church family

Jonah’s Second Second Chance

While Jonah took a detour, God’s will remained steadfast. We are so thankful for our God who is gracious, merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

• Nothing pierces God’s slow anger like repentance. 
• What pleased God displeased Jonah.
• Instead of striking Jonah down in that moment… we see God reaching out, and encouraging Jonah to pause and reflect.

God’s big mercy is seen in this big fish that swallowed Jonah. The mercy of God can often look different than we expect. When we stray, or like Jonah flat out disobey, God is there with His love & mercy.

• The cost of following is far less than the cost of fleeing.
• In your distress pray, declare God’s sovereignty, & proclaim God’s mercy.
• Express gratitude to Jesus even in the tensions of life.

I Did it My Way
Jonah 1

God gives Jonah a clear command: get up and go to Nineveh. So Jonah gets up and goes the opposite direction. By heading in the opposite direction and attempting to flee God’s presence, Jonah is announcing his unwillingness to serve God.

As we try do it our way, we find it to be a dead end. Either we do reach the summit, only to find there are more summits to climb or we fall to the bottom and waste our lives wishing for what could have been.

But Jesus offers a different way… A different route for your life altogether. To repent means to turn from your way and turn towards God’s way. Come to Jesus today. He’ll give you new life and a new path that actually leads to peace and fulfillment.
