This holiday is to celebrate activist Cesar Chavez and his incredible efforts to help migrant workers. It is celebrated in the southwestern United States, which is where Cesar Chavez did most of his work. We discuss Cesar Chavez's legacy, the history of the labor rights movement, and latino healthcare issues historically. On March 8, 1990 Lyle Menendez was arrested for the murder of his parents Jose and Kitty Menendez, and March 11, 1990 Erik Menendez turned himself in for the same crime. What followed was a rollercoaster trial revealing family secrets, sexual abuse, financial motivation, and therapist misconduct. The case captivated the nation. Today, 23 years after the arrests, we embark on a true crime exploration of this case, and hope to continue to do a latino true crime episode every season moving forward.
