In John 8:1-12, a woman caught in the act of adultery is brought before Jesus by the scribes and Pharisees, who seek to trap Him. They remind Him that according to the law of Moses, she should be stoned to death. Jesus responds by challenging anyone without sin to cast the first stone, prompting the accusers to leave one by one. When only Jesus and the woman remain, He tells her that He does not condemn her and advises her to go and sin no more, emphasizing forgiveness and the opportunity for a fresh start.

In John 7:25-52, the atmosphere in Jerusalem is charged with anticipation and speculation as Jesus captivates the crowds with his teachings. Curiosity is running high, and everyone seems to be asking the same burning questions: "Could this be the long-awaited Messiah?" and "Where does he truly come from?" It's a moment where spiritual thirst meets a profound yearning for answers, as some skeptics cautiously analyze, while others find themselves drawn to the compelling words of Jesus. In John 6:41-71, Jesus declares that he is the "bread of life," and anyone who eats his flesh and drinks his blood abides in him and has eternal life. This must have been shocking to the Jews hearing this idea presented for the first time, as we read that many of Jesus' disciples stop following him after this. But even for us today, do we truly understand the sacrifice Jesus made in our place and what it means to proclaim Christ as our savior? Pastor Matt invites us to take a closer look.

Don is very passionate about telling those he meets about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

In John 6:15-40, Jesus reveals himself as the bread of life, emphasizing his divine nature and offering spiritual nourishment to those who believe in him. He teaches that just as physical bread sustains the body, relationship with him brings eternal life. Jesus emphasizes the importance of faith in him as the means to receive this everlasting sustenance, promising to raise up believers on the last day.

In John 6:1-15, Jesus feeds a crowd of five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. This miracle establishes Jesus as a provider, prompting the people to want to make him their king. However, Jesus withdraws from them, as he did not come to be an earthly king but to establish a spiritual kingdom. Who is Jesus to us? Do we praise him only when he blesses us? Or simply because he is worthy?

In John 5:31-47, Jesus is speaking to the religious leaders and tells them that he does not need human testimony to confirm who he is because his works and the testimony of the Father already bear witness of him. However, he goes on to say that there are others who testify on his behalf, including John the Baptist and the scriptures, which point to him as the Messiah. Jesus warns the Jews that their rejection of him and his message ultimately means their rejection of the Father who sent him.

In John 5:18-30, Jesus is confronted by the Jewish leaders who are angry that He is claiming to be equal with God. Jesus responds by explaining that He only does what He sees the Father doing and that the Father has given Him the authority to judge all people. Jesus emphasizes that He and the Father are one and that those who honor the Son also honor the Father. In essence, Jesus is teaching that the Father and the Son are united in purpose and action, and that by following and obeying Jesus, we are also following and obeying the Father.
