Allen Przysucha, President of TC Sunrise Rotary club stopped in this morning. We talked about one of the fundraisers coming up, and what this event would benefit. Also in the conversation, the function of area clubs in the community, and how to become a rotary member.

Keri was in studio today, reminding us that 2-11 day is this Saturday. Plus she will also be at the Rock Falls Community Building on Thursday the 9th, for The Monthly Member Meet up with the RF Chamber. And then next week United Way will be having a ribbon cutting and open house at their new location.

Betty Clementz and Committee Chair Jayna Jacobs checked in with listeners this morning for a Relay update. We discussed getting more committee members involved and putting teams together. This will be the 28th Relay for Life of The Sauk Valley, coming up Saturday, June 3rd.

It looks like the Kewanee Girls were in for a long night when they were held to just 3 points through the first quarter and trailed by more than 20 points in the first half. Then, because it was Senior night, the last night on this court for six Kewanee Seniors, the hearts started to kick in. In the second half, Kewanee began knocking down long three pointers and playing hardnosed defense that really began to payoff. Late in the 3rd Quarter and into the 4th quarter, Kewanee even threatened to take the lead in the game. In the end a small run by Hall late in the 4th quarter and some good luck for the Lady Devils helped them hold of Kewanee with a final score of 51 to 47.  After the game, Kewanee's Senior Girls talked with Russ Hughes about this final basketball season at Kewanee.

Rehab services at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center have expanded to Galva with great success. On Monday's Wake Up Tri-Counties, Samantha Rux and Brea Cinnamon, talked about how successful the new Rehab office in Galva has been so far. Things have gone so well that OSF has decided to expand the office hours at the facility to accommodate patients attending the facility. WKEI spoke with Brea Cinnamon about Rehab Services at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center and the kind of work she does on daily basis, working with people with Parkinson's Disease, working with people recovering from surgery, bone breaks and other types of maladies that require Rehabilitation. Brea emphasizes that what her and her team's goal is is to get patients back to self-sufficient standards, meaning being able to care for themselves and handle rehab efforts from home.

Amanda Twaddle is a member of Ten Squared Women, A group of over 80 local women who, through a random process choose a nonprofit to donate money to.  They meet quarterly and choose three random nonprofit organizations from many who request help from the members.  Three are randomly chosen to make a presentation to the group and from those three one will receive a one hundred dollar check from each member of the group. Last week, the Henry and Stark County Health Department kicked off a program of events they are calling 12 Communities in 12 Months. It's a monthly event where staff from the Henry and Stark County Health Department will hold a community event highlighting Public Health and the services of the Health Department, in 12 communities served by the Henry and Stark County Health Department. The first event at Peoples National Bank in Kewanee highlighted Radon Awareness Month and the Health Department gave out free COVID-19 testing kits. In February, the Health Department will go to Orion where the event will highlight Heart Health. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department talked about 12 Communities in 12 Months and the latest news regarding COVID-19 on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023.

We visited with Janna Groharing from Sterling Main Street this morning on WSDR. We remembered Marilyn Anderson, who recently passed away, and her many contributions not only to Main Street, but also the library.
