The Kewanee Friends of the Animals are holding their biggest fundraiser of the year on Saturday, February 12th, 2022. Hours are 9 Am to 2 Pm on Saturday, February 12th with Breakfast and Lunch available with the remarkable vendors, their incredible crafts and your chance to make a donation to support the Kewanee Friends of the Animals who use donations to help those in need with veterinary care for their pets.

The Kewanee Fire Department is looking to hire a new Firefighter. If you or someone you know has thought about becoming a firefighter, your opportunity is now. Three families from Afghanistan are being resettled in Kewanee with the help of Kewanee Welcomes. Kewanee Welcomes is a new non-profit organization that has come together to aid those in need who are fleeing from the rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Working in partnership with the Samaritan's Purse Afghan Resettlement Program and the Federal government, Kewanee Welcomes is now laying the groundwork and creating a support network for three Afghan families who will be welcomed to Kewanee. Wake Up Tri-Counties spoke with Bobi Throneburg and John Taylor about how Kewanee Welcomes was founded and what you can do to support these families relocating to Kewanee.

Memorial Hospital in Carthage is working hard to change the perception some people have regarding Hospital Food. Brad Culpepper, Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Memorial Hospital, spoke to MacombNewsNow this week about the effort his department is making to improve the food served for both patients and employees of Memorial Hospital. Improvements include a new restaurant style menu, new ideas from Memorial Hospital's Chef Jake, including a new teaching kitchen where Chef Jake can teach patients and Hospital employees about cooking. Kewanee City Council member Mike Komnick is a proud member and leader with the Kewanee Kiwanis. Mike Komnick spoke to Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday about getting more people involved in Kiwanis and what Kiwanis does. The goal of Kiwanis is to help children that includes getting kids involved in Kiwanis through Key Club and other Kiwanis adjacent programs in local schools. Rodney Atkins and his wife Rose Falcon have released a new album together for the first time in each of their illustrious careers. Calling themselves Rod and Rose, the E.P Being Here, Being There is not the first time they've worked together but it is their first record together and their first time performing together regularly on stage. Rod and Rose talked to Regional Media about Rose's lengthy and celebrated career as a songwriter, what it is like for the two to write songs together and whether Rose will be joining Rodney later this year when he is the headline performer at the Marshall-Putnam County Fair on July 14th, 2022.
