At one time in Kewanee there were as many as 65 grocery stores in Kewanee. That comes from research done by our good friend, Dave Clark for the latest edition of Kewanee Back When. it seems everyone of a certain age in Kewanee has a memory about one of these stores from their childhood where the store and its proprietor weren't just a business, they were a big part of their neighborhood. Wethersfield Schools Superintendent Shane Kazubowski joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday to wrap up last Thursday's Wethersfield School Board Meeting. Shane talked about the successful completion of the audit of Wethersfield Schools among several other pressing matters from last week's school board meeting. The Kewanee School Board met on Monday evening and on Tuesday morning, Superintendent Dr Chris Sullens spoke to WKEI about the meeting. Items including the recent budget audit and whole lot about the tremendous report that Kewanee Schools have received for the Kewanee Football team which remains undefeated at 8 and 0. Dr Sullens celebrated the accomplishments of the team and encouraged people to go to Sterling on Friday to watch the Boilers in action against Newman Central Catholic.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the sad truth is that during the pandemic many people chose to put off getting a breast exam out of fear over COVID-19. This lack of a mammogram could be the difference between catching breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat, and not catching it in time before it can grow and spread and become even more deadly.
