Bushels for Hunger is back for another year of raising funds for the Riverbend Food Bank. Local farmers can donate grain at their local grain bin with the price of the grain donated being the amount of funds donated to the Riverbend Food Bank. Farmers have until January of 2022 to make a donation for Bushels for Hunger. Katie Laleman from the Henry County Farm Bureau joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday to promote Bushels for Hunger and invite you to register for the next Henry County Farm Bureau Market Outlook Seminar.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is not an easy topic for some to discuss. It involves incontinence, constipation, bowel issues, pelvic pain and some pregnancy related issues. Katie Roebush is a physical therapist at Memorial Hospital in Carthage who specializes in treating Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and she's encouraging those who are having issues with incontinence, bowel issues, constipation and other pelvic region issues to talk to her. These issues are not issues that arise from aging. Rather, they can be symptoms of other problems that could be treated and healed.

The Kewanee City Council met on Tuesday, October 12th. On the agenda was a presentation from Dwight Ford regarding Project Now and how Project Now helps people struggling with poverty. The Kewanee City Council also awarded a sidewalk contract to Ratliff Brothers, a contract for the construction of Aeration Tanks to Artesian of Pioneer and, for the 3rd consecutive meeting, the council tabled a contract with Zen City, a data company aiming to provide services to the City of Kewanee. The Mayor also discussed how the City Council does intend to get something done soon regarding Red Adams Road in Kewanee.

Kewanee Parks Director Andrew Dwyer joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday to talk about the golf cart sale that is ending this week. If you'd like to bid on a golf cart you need to get in touch with the Parks Department today or Wednesday to place a bid. The 19th Hole Restaurant closed for the season as of this Friday, and sadly, it's official, Bakersville will not take place this year. Organizers informed the Parks Department that they would not be going ahead with Bakersville 2021. Mr Dwyer says the Parks Department will be ready if Bakersville makes a comeback in 2022.

OSF Saint Luke Medical Center will hold Flu Clinics on October 16th and October 30th. These Saturday clinics are intended to get those who can't make it during the regular work week to get a flu shot. On Monday's Wake Up Tri-Counties, Samantha Rux and Brittany Boston joined Sean Kernan to discuss flu shot clinics, myths about the flu shot, and how the flu vaccine works to protect you from influenza.

On October 16th, the Kewanee Friends of the Animals are saying thank you to the community with a pre-Halloween Halloween celebration in the parking of Regional Media in Kewanee, located at 101 West Central Boulevard. Families are encouraged to drive through or walk up and get candy from The Friends of the Animals. The volunteers on hand will be in costume as will their dogs who will be on hand for the celebration.
