The Henry County Humane Society of Kewanee will host a fundraiser on Saturday, July 31st, at the Flemish American Club. $10 dollars buys a bag of tokens to be used as you play Rock N Roll Bingo for prizes donated by local businesses. Rock N Roll Bingo has you listening for songs and looking for those songs on your Bingo card. Sue Sagmoen and Louise Harrison from the Humane Society joined Wake Up Tri Counties to promote the fundraiser and respond to questions regarding the Kewanee Animal Control Pound. At Monday evening's Kewanee City Council Meeting, Councilman Steve Faber asked Kewanee Police Chief Nick Welgat if he was aware of any staffing shortages at the Pound. We asked Louise Harrison about staffing shortages and she stated that there has not been a staffing shortage thus far.

Mayor Rich Volkert of Galva was our guest on Wednesday's Wake Up Tri-Counties on WKEI. Mayor Volkert joined the show to talk about closing a railroad crossing in Galva. The City of Galva has a railroad crossing that is very rarely used and turning it over to the railroad company is a financial benefit to the City. Mayor Volkert also discussed upcoming events in Galva including the final two weekends of the Levitt Amp Galva Music Series, a huge success, the upcoming Back Road Music Festival in Galva on August 14th and a primer on Galva Day for those who aren't aware of what Galva Day is. Plus, the Mayor thanked Gary and Shearon Armel for their contributions to the City of Galva. The couple are set to receive the Key to the City of Galva at a future Galva City Council Meeting.

Monday's Kewanee City Council Meeting was a relatively short meeting but there were still plenty of items to discuss with Mayor Gary Moore on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday. Mayor Moore joined WKEI to talk about finalizing an agreement with Wethersfield and Kewanee School District related to the latest TIF District information, the purchase of a new Police Interceptor Vehicle, and the latest on getting sidewalks in Kewanee repaired. We also discussed bringing Electric Vehicle Charging Stations to Kewanee and planned clean up work at the former Kewanee Boiler site.
