Geneseo Music Fest is back for 2021 and it gets underway this Friday in Geneseo. Music is the headline for the event but it is also a full fledged festival with arts and crafts, food, and two parades, The Annual Kiwanis Doo Dah Parade on Friday, June 18th at 6 Pm. And then on Sunday, the annual Father's Day Parade presented by Geneseo Communications in downtown Geneseo at 1 Pm. Also returning this year is the Geneseo Father's Day Fly-In Breakfast, Sunday morning from 7 Am to 11 Am at Gen-Air Park. The Memorial Hospital Foundation is kicking off its annual campaign and this year, it's fun in the sun for seniors. The You Are My Sunshine campaign will benefit the residents of Hancock Village. The goal is to raise enough funds to build a Four Seasons Sun Room at Hancock Village so residents can enjoy the sunshine year round. Jen Garner is with the Memorial Hospital Foundation and she tells MacombNewsNow.com all about the kick off of the campaign, the Fun in the Sun Family Day in this conversation. The Fun in the Sun Family Day is free to attend and will feature all sorts of fun activities for the whole family and opportunities to donate to the You Are My Sunshine campaign. The Fun in the Sun Family Day will take place on June 26th from 10 Am to 2 Pm on the campus of Hancock Village located at 400 South Adams Street in Carthage.

June is National Men's Health month and with it comes a campaign to urge men to take their health more seriously. Men have a habit of letting seemingly minor problems with their health get worse before finally going to a hospital. The best treatment for an ailment however, especially a potentially deadly ailment is get it checked out sooner rather than later. Dr Andrew Peterson from OSF Healthcare joined WKEI on Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about encouraging men to get health screenings.

The Henry County Fair is back June 22nd to June 27th at the Henry County Fairgrounds in Cambridge. The event kicks off with the crowing of Miss Henry County Fair on June 22nd in the grandstand. The pageant begins at 5:30 Pm with the crowning of Little Miss Henry County Fair and continues at 7 Pm with the Junior Miss and Miss Henry County Fair Pageant. Because the Fair was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, Sierra Brown, 2019 Miss Henry County Fair Queen stayed on through this year's fair. Sierra was our guest on Monday's Wake Up Tri-Counties to promote the Miss Henry County Fair pageant and the fun of the Henry County Fair.

Wethersfield Superintendent Shane Kazubowski joined WKEI on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday to discuss Thursday's Wethersfield School Board Meeting. In the interview, Mr Kazubowski discussed how the school year proceeded and reflected on how things were different over the last year. Mr Kazubowski then laid out how the next school year will look and plans are things will be mostly normal. Kids may still be required to wear masks but the schedule should return to normal including lunch schedules which will be easier due to allowing more students to have lunch at the same time. Full time remote learning will come to an end and students will be required to return to in person school.
