Eric Balfour may not be one of those celebrity names you immediately know, but his face is instantly recognizable. He has had roles in numerous TV series like “24” and “Six Feet Under” and movies like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Skyline”.

Eric’s latest project is the new Netflix series “Country Comfort”. He plays the ex-boyfriend of the lead character Bailey. After hitting the skids in her career, the aspiring country singer finds new life as a nanny for a widower and his five children. The series stars Katharine McPhee as Bailey and Eddie Cibrian as the widower. Eric says he prefers tv series over movies because it allows for more time to tell a story.

Eric says his first love is music and he’s glad that’s a big part of his new show. He also is lead singer for the band Born as Ghosts and suggests fans check out their song “Light On”. He’s also a big backer of environmental issues, especially involving oceans.

The new British Spy Thriller, Six Minutes to Midnight is available now for streaming rental. The movie stars Eddie Izzard as an undercover MI6 Spy tasked with keeping a group of German schoolgirls from being smuggled out of England and back to Germany, just before World War 2. Why? These happen to be the daughters of the Nazi high command, high value bargaining chips for England just as the War was beginning to heat up. On this edition of Sean at the Movies I talked with Director Andy Goddard and co-star and co-screenwriter Celyn Jones about the journey of this true story to the big screen and the passion that their star and partner, Eddie Izzard brought to the making of Six Minutes to Midnight.

Sara Billiet from the Kewanee Public Library was our guest on Tuned In on Thursday with the latest happenings at the Kewanee Public Library. Book Club is back in session at the library, masked and socially distant. Monday, April 19th at 2 Pm and again in the evening at 6 Pm. This month's book is "The Rosie Project" and you can get a copy at the Library now. For kids, 5th through 8th grade, there is a creative coding class taking place on April 7th from 3:30 Pm to 4:30 Pm.

On the agenda, a modest spike of 15 new COVID-19 cases in Henry County on Wednesday, a reminder that COVID-19 is not over. Representative Cheri Bustos visited with Health Department staff on Wednesday at the site of the latest 2nd dose Vaccine Clinic at Black Hawk College. And finally a reminder that First Dose Vaccine Clinics are now open to anyone 18 years or older.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos dropped by our WKEI Studio on Wednesday on her way to visit with the Henry and Stark County Health Department at their latest second dose clinic at Black Hawk College. It's part of a tour of vaccination sites in the 17th District. Representative Bustos spoke to WKEI about several topics including the American Rescue Plan, a bill she's written to help business owners with issues related to Business Succession and her work in the Senate Ag Subcommittee.

The Kewanee League of Women Voters and WKEI have teamed up again for a candidate forum for the April 6th Consolidated Election. In this forum candidates for the Black Hawk College Board, the Kewanee Park Board, the Kewanee Township and the Wethersfield School Board were given the opportunity to deliver a 5 minute speech to voters. Some used the time and some did not participate. Those that did were included in a live broadcast on Tuesday, March 23rd on WKEI 100.1 FM and 1450 Am and online at RegionalDailyNews.com.

The Mayor of Galva, Rich Volkert joined WKEI on Wednesday on People to People to wrap up this week's Galva City Council Meeting. At that meeting came word that a new mural was to be established in Galva. Painted by the Walldogs and put together by Gary Armell and his family, the mural will be adjacent to The Greatest Harvest Mural in Galva and will pay tribute to a former Galva business, the Hayes Plow and Planter factory. Also this week, the Mayor updated us on the continued progress of the stage in Wiley Park and discussed new businesses in Galva.

COVID-19 can be extremely debilitating and needs to be take very seriously, at least until the majority of community members get vaccinated.
