Dr Robert Ayers with OSF Healthcare was our guest on Tuned In on Monday morning. With the Henry and Stark County County Health Department now holding a Johnson and Johnson one shot clinic we asked Dr Ayers to tell us about the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. We also discussed the latest vaccination numbers across the state of Illinois and new research that indicates that pregnant women should get vaccinated and that the vaccine will protect their baby.

Andrew Dwyer is the new Director of the Kewanee Parks Department. Dwyer, a Kewanee resident and long time volunteer at the Parks joined WKEI to talk about his vision of the Parks Department, his background as a grant writer and budget manager, and the seeming backlash to his hiring among some in the community. Dwyer also addressed potential partnerships with the City of Kewanee and the taking on of another of Kewanee's parks under the Park Department banner, nothing is final on that and more discussion between the City of Kewanee and the Parks Department will need to happen before anything goes any further.

During his monthly visit on Wake Up Princeton on WZOE-AM, Princeton Mayor Joel Quiram discussed a controversial walkway, food trucks and new water meters for city residents.

The mayor says the closing of Columbus Street, originally scheduled for the month of March, is being extended as the city continues considering making it into a walkway.  He says a heavy majority of people in a recent poll he conducted favor Columbus Street becoming a walkway.

Mayor Quiram says the City Council will vote on a food truck ordinance at Monday night's meeting.  He says they want to make sure food trucks are "on an even playing field" with brick and mortar restaurants.

The mayor says citizens will begin receiving new water meters at no cost to residents but he warns the process will take quite a while to complete.  He also says the Thompson Street sewer project has been completed.

Mayor Quiram also encourages everyone to get out and vote in Tuesday's election.  Three candidates are running for two open seats on the city council.

Canyonlands is a clever throwback horror movie with a very unique setting. Set in the hills of Moab, Utah, Canyonlands tells the story of a group of contest winners who are taking a rafting and hiking trip on their way to collecting a prize they've won. Leading the tour is an experience tour guide, played by Steph Barkley. Steph's character has a serious aversion to this particular route through and around the hills of Moab, Utah. Steph had an accident in this area years earlier that resulted in people being killed, a fact that has been withheld from the contest winners. Once on the raft and making camp in the hills, the travelers and us are left confused and stranded in the darkness and the byzantine rock maze of Moab. Making things even scarier is a backwoods serial killer with a pick axe, greasy hair and bad teeth. Who survives? You will have to see Canyonlands for yourself to find out. There is still no definitive word on when the Henry County Senior Center will be allowed to have people back inside. Cassandra Schmoll from the Henry County Senior Center joined WKEI for a conversation on Tuned In about how things are going at the Senior Center including the fact they are still making cookies and cinnamon rolls ad they are still taking meals to hundreds of local seniors via the Home Delivered Meal Program. Also, seniors are reminded to call the Senior Center regarding a discount on license plate tags.

Dorothy Breininger has risen to fame on her skill at organizing. Dorothy has adopted the moniker 'Dorothy the Organizer' and her reputation in being organized and parlaying organization into a life coach career brought her to the attention of the A & E network which sought her out to be part of their revival of the reality series Hoarders. On the show, Dorothy goes into some of the most troubled homes in America and helps those living their to finally give up the things they've hoarded while helping them organize what they need to keep.
