Dr Robert Ayers from OSF Healthcare joined WKEI on Monday, on Tuned In, to discuss the latest COVID-19 news. OSF Saint Luke Medical Center has begun vaccinating patients for COVID-19. Over the weekend, OSF received more than 400 doses of Vaccine and immediately began contacting patients over the age of 65 and those with co-morbidities to come in and get vaccinated. They are not taking calls or appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations but they are reaching out to elderly, high risk, patients and inviting them to come get vaccinated as their supply arrives. Dr Ayers also discussed confusion and concern regarding pregnancy and vaccination and stated that there are no known adverse effects on pregnancy from vaccination.

State Senator Win Stoller was in Kewanee over the weekend visiting local nursing homes and dropping off Valentine's to the residents. State Senator Stoller took the opportunity of being in Kewanee to stop by WKEI and talk about his first two months in office, the experience of the lame duck session, his take on the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine in Illinois and the Police Reform Bill currently on Governor Pritzker's desk. State Senator Stoller also talked about his legislative priorities which includes a bill that would require time for lawmakers to read a bill before it can be voted on.

The Wethersfield School Board is looking into ways to bring students back to school full time. Though the hurdle of not allowing more than 50 people in one room at a time does create some issues, the Wethersfield staff are actively searching for work arounds and ways in which they can safely accommodate students returning full time to Wethersfield while also adhering to IDPH guidelines. According to Superintendent Shane Kazubowski, a plan to return students to Wethersfield full time could come at the March meeting of the Wethersfield School Board.
