Harvard’s Top Astronomer Visits Wake Up Princeton

Harvard’s top astronomer visited WZOE’s Wake Up Princeton show recently. Dr. Avi Loeb says he believes aliens tried to contact us in 2017.

In his new book “Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth”, Dr. Loeb argues ‘Oumuamua, which passed by Earth in 2017, wasn’t a comet but rather alien technology.

You may remember in 2017 when a bizarre, blunt-shaped object came whizzing our way in space. It measured approximately half a mile in length and was moving at an irregular pace, getting alien watchers excited. The vast majority of scientists who have studied the object have said ‘Oumuamua, was a natural phenomenon, but the head of Harvard's astronomy department just published a book in which he says he believes the giant object was alien in origin.

In his book, Dr. Loeb lays out in 240 pages exactly why he believes the object from 2017 was an intergalactic attempt to contact Earth.

Melissa Shipp, Vice President of Support Services for OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, joined WKEI on Tuned In to talk about the latest news regarding COVID-19. Weather impacted many efforts to distribute vaccine last week and led to the closure of vaccine clinics across the state. That did not effect OSF Healthcare however, as they continue to only administer shots given to them by the Henry and Stark County Health Department. Melissa Shipp talked about OSF and vaccine distribution but the big topic was bringing appointments back to the hospital. OSF is urging people who have put off needed tests, treatments or hospital visits that now is a good time to set those appointments. COVID-19 is not gone but hospitalizations are down significantly and the cleaning procedures at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center have created a safe as possible environment for patients.

In the interview, Kippy Breeden discusses the decision to rescind funding for the Henry County Tourism Bureau and discusses all that took place at Thursday night's meeting. Jim Kelly was on hand to talk about the COVID-19 Revolving Loan Fund and the Rural Revolving Loan Fund, both of which have aided local businesses in Henry County stay afloat amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
