The YMCA of Kewanee and OSF Saint Luke Medical Center are partnering for another year of Healthy Kids U. This free program combines the education and health efforts of both OSF Healthcare and the YMCA and encourages a whole family approach to creating healthy habits for kids. The free program is Monday nights at 6 Pm at the YMCA of Kewanee and Hanna Hawkins, Pediatric Wellness Project Manager for OSF Healthcare joined YMCA Director Jill Milroy and YMCA Wellness Director Amanda Powe on WKEI to talk about the benefits of Healthy Kids U not just for kids but for the whole family.

Friday, February 19th's COVID-19 Drive Thru Vaccine Clinic has been pushed back by 1 week. Everyone who registered is still registered and will have the same appointment, they will just have that appointment on February 26th. That was the word from the Henry and Stark County Health Department which is dealing with yet another obstacle in the vaccine distribution chain, bad weather. Meanwhile, the Health Department released their latest Recovery Rate Data on Wednesday with number of active COVID-19 cases in Henry and Stark County.

Singer and Songwriter Don McLean has had a remarkable 50 plus year career but his legacy will always be one incredible, epic pop song. 2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of McLean's American Pie, a song that made a lasting impression on generations of music lovers from Baby Boomers to Millennials and beyond. On our WKEI I morning show, I was lucky to have the chance to reminisce with Don McLean about his legacy defining hit, American Pie at 50.

Dr Chris Sullens, Superintendent of Kewanee School District, joined Sean Kernan on Tuned In on Wednesday, February 17th to follow up on Tuesday, Kewanee School Board Meeting. Dr Sullens discussed new technology being used to teach anatomy at Kewanee High School. Notably, the Superintendent discussed plans to try and bring students back to Kewanee Schools on a nearly full time basis before the end of this school year. We could find out next month that students at Kewanee Schools are returning to in-person classes at Kewanee Schools at next month's School Board Meeting.

The February edition of Kewanee Back When, hosted by Dave Clark and Sean Kernan, was dedicated to Black History Month. Specifically, Black History in Kewanee and a man who had role in carving a place in history for black people to thrive in Kewanee. John Easley is not a name you will find in history books. He didn't change the world, but he made Kewanee a better place by getting involved, by owning a business and by lifting up people around him. According to Jay, rising gas prices are a sign that the economy is improving. At the same time, Policy in Washington, including changes in approach to drilling for oil and oil pipeline building have Wall Street traders reacting which also may show why fuel prices are rising. Russia meanwhile is affecting the world market by stating that they will match every barrel of oil that the United States does not produce thus shifting international profits and having a worldwide impact on prices.
