The Kewanee Area United Way wants to make sure people have the cleaning supplies they need amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Cleaning and keeping clean are ways in which we can help to keep infections, like COVID-19, at bay. But, not everyone can afford the supplies needed for keeping home and family as clean as possible. That's where the United Way Supply Drive comes in to provide a free bag of needed supplies from soap and hand sanitizer to toothpaste to dish soap, and other needed supplies. Those in need of a free box or bag of cleaning supplies can drive through the Regional Media Parking lot located at 101 West Central Boulevard at 10 Am on Saturday, January 9th and pick up that free box or bag. Donations are given out on a first come, first served basis until all the donation boxes and bags have been given away. Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way and Eddie Tolliver from the Kewanee Salvation Army joined WKEI on People to People to talk about the Supply drive.

In the nearly 1 year since COVID-19 came to the attention of the world, what have we learned about the virus, where it came from, how it has changed, and how the vaccine will fight it. Most importantly, when will this whole thing be over? When can we expect to get back to something that resembles life before COVID-19. Lori Grooms is quite hopeful that advances in science will allow us to navigate this pandemic faster than we have past pandemics.

Pastor Reynolds detailed several signs that you may need more help with your grief and how OSF Healthcare is planning the launch of online grief support via the OSF Healthcare website. Pastor Jim Reynolds joins WKEI on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss Grief Support.

RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI for the latest local information regarding COVID-19. RaeAnn joined WKEI to update the latest local COVID-19 numbers and to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine rollout which began just before Christmas and has nearly completed the first round of Frontline Healthcare Workers. Next on the list will be first responders, firefighters, Police and the education sector. Tier 3 includes adults with so-called Co-Morbidities or High Risk Medical Conditions and those aged 65 and older. RaeAnn also urged patience among those eager to receive the vaccine. The rollout is under the control of the Federal and State Governments and the Health Department is following their guidelines for deployment of the vaccine. The orderly rollout to the public has not been set as of yet and people will need to be patient while understanding that a plan is in place for the orderly rollout to all who would like to get the vaccine.
