The Kewanee Public Library is once again opening and is moving to hold safe, socially distant programs for kids and adults. Sara Billiet from the Kewanee Public Library joined WKEI on Tuned In on Thursday to talk about upcoming activities including Coding Classes at the Library for kids in 5th through 8th Grade. BHE instructor Andrew Mansheim will instruct a limited number of students in Coding at the Kewanee Public Library on Thursday, November 19th. Space is limited so sign up soon at the Library. Three more people have died from COVID-19 related causes in Henry County. That word from the Henry and Stark County Health Department on Wednesday afternoon. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI for our twice weekly COVID-19 podcast to talk about the latest news regarding COVID-19, news that is not very good right now. Numbers in Henry County and across the state are going up and with more winter weather driving more people indoors, the spread is expected to continue.

Katie Laleman from the Henry County Farm Bureau was our guest on Tuned In on Wednesday. Katie joined WKEi to talk about the latest Harvest numbers in Illinois, plenty of good news courtesy of the good weather in early November. And we discussed the ongoing charity effort Bushels for Hunger which farmers can still participate in by donating bushels via their grain elevator. Finally, we talked about the Henry County Farm Bureau Young Leaders who will be at Fareway in Geneseo on Saturday for another Fill A Ford event. Whether it is your car or your home, there are simple tips for making sure you are protected from the weather once the real winter weather begins. Jolene has tips for a winter preparedness kit for your car and tips for making sure your home is in shape and prepared for when the winter weather arrives.

Kevin Bauer from Ag Consulting Group in Princeton visited Wake Up Princeton recently. ACG is one of seven ag businesses that form Beneficial Ag Center. The group is located at 636 South Main Street in the former Parr Insurance building.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has put out new guidance on the tracking of COVID-19 cases. Health Departments will now track confirmed and probable cases together. We talked with RaeAnn Tucker about this update to the numbers and how this will more accurately reflect the prevalence and spread of COVID-19 in our area. We also discussed tips for getting ready for your family Thanksgiving gathering. You can still do Thanksgiving get togethers, but if you want to do so safely, the Health Department wants to help you with some guidance. Finally, we talked about the big news from Pfizer regarding the potential for a vaccine and how prepared the Office of Emergency Management in Henry County already is for any potential vaccine rollout.
