Amber McReynolds, a former Kewanee resident and Wethersfield grad, is now one of the leading experts when it comes to the movement Vote from Home. Amber, a former election official in Colorado, is now the CEO of VoteatHome.org, a not for profit organization dedicated to helping educate and legislate on behalf of voting by mail. Amber McReynolds joined WKEI on Friday to talk about the advantages of Voting by Mail and to respond to some of the concerns that those opposed to Vote By Mail have expressed.

Amanda Kocis from OSF Saint Luke Medical Center joined the LocalSportsNow.com Noon Hour Sports Show on Thursday to talk about OSF services for local High School athletes. OSF Saint Luke Medical Center has a program called OSF Competitive Edge and the goal is to target weaknesses in training and execution of skills and turn them into strengths. Competitive Edge builds workout routines for athletes based on their needs and desired outcome whether that is greater speed, strength of recovery from injury.

The Henry and Stark County Health Department released their latest round of Recovery Rate Data for Henry and Stark County. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI on People to People to break down the numbers and underline the importance of social distancing guidelines, mask recommendations and hand washing. We also talked about what it means to be Asymptomatic. testing positive for COVID-19 but experiencing no symptoms.

John Lodge of The Moody Blues is capturing what it is like to be on lockdown due to COVID-19. "In These Crazy Times" is the title and it captures the feel of what it is like to be sheltered at home, the alienation, angst and hope of this odd moment. Dr Chris Sullens joined WKEI on Tuned In on Wednesday to talk about the School District Return to School Plan. On Monday night, the Kewanee School Board settled on a hybrid program with restrictions on in-school learning and a combination of students going to school and students e-learning or attending classes from home. This hybrid program will be in place for at least the first 9 weeks of the new school year which begins August 19th. After 9 weeks, the School Board will revisit the plan and determine whether or not to continue the hybrid plan or bring back students to school full time.

On March 17th of 1958 two people were killed when the Earle Hotel located in the 200 Block of 3rd Street, where the People's National Bank parking lot now exists, caught fire. 28 residents of the long term stay hotel were left homeless while one resident, it was determined, set the fire with the intent of being the hero who rescued people from the fire. Our friend Dave Clarke takes us back in time to March of 1958 for the story of the Earle Hotel Fire on Kewanee Back When.

The Kewanee Ballhawks 15U Softball team are national champions. The girls won going away over the weekend, going undefeated in tourney play in Des Moines. They wrapped a 36 and 1 season with a championship win on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday night, the girls returned to Kewanee and was met by police and fire escort from Annaway on IL 78 to Kewanee and all the way through the City of Kewaee. It was a magical moment with people lining the streets to waive and cheer. Coaches J.R Salisbury and Duane Stephens joined WKEI on Monday to talk about the Championship season and these incredible young women.
