Ashli Fisher of Freedom House in Princeton visited with WZOE-AM morning host Paul Bomleny recently on Wake Up Princeton. April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. She said Freedom House continues to provide all essential services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She added because of the social isolation seen during a pandemic, the incidence of domestic violence and sexual abuse can elevate dramatically. Many more victims than usual have sought refuge at Freedom House and they expect the increased demand for their free services to continue.

There are now 23 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henry County. That according to the Henry and Stark County Health Department. And that number is the only information that the County Health Department is going to release. Data from the Health Department is on a need to know basis in that, the only information that will be released is what you need to know. You need to know that the virus can be anywhere and the only way to assure your safety is not to worry about what City the virus was in but how you can protect yourself and your family. Wash your hands, shelter in place, keep social distancing.

OSF Healthcare is partnering with the State of Illinois for COVID at Home. Essentially, this is a way to help treat more COVID-19 patients at home instead of at the hospital, easing the burden for our healthcare network statewide. The majority of COVID-19 patients thus far, are not in need of hospital care. COVID-At-Home is a way for people self-isolating to access expert care. Health professionals will be on call for the patient via an online portal. The patient is checked on daily by a health professional. And assessments can be done remotely to determine if a patient needs further care.

Kewanee City Manager Gary Bradley joined WKEI with a preview of Monday night's Kewanee City Council Meeting. Mr Bradley talked about the lengthy agenda, the challenge of remote meetings and how people can access the meeting. We also talked about last Thursday's meeting regarding help for Small Businesses. There will be an item on tonight's agenda to offer support to local businesses with less red tape than usual. City Manager Bradley also tells WKEI that Cities in Henry County are talking to each other more than ever before and helping each other confront the unique challenges of COVID-19.

Pastor Bill Jacobsen of the Seatonville Community Church talks about the importance of Holy Week including Good Friday and Easter Sunday. With the COVID-19 situation keeping parishioners from physically attending church, the pastor discusses alternate ways he's been able to get his message out.

Once you have your library card online you will have access to all kinds of online resources, e-readers, tutorials, and so on that you can only access as a library cardholder. Barbara Love from the Kewanee Public Library also tells WKEI that the library wi-fi is now accessible outside the building. You may park outside the library and access the library wi-fi throughout the time the library remains closed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
