For the month of April, Regional Media has selected the Kewanee Food Pantry for our Hometown Hope Grant. All month long we will highlight what the Food Pantry does and how you can access their services if needed. Most importantly, we will highlight the ways you can help the Kewanee Food Pantry in their mission. Financial donations are being accepted to support the services at the Kewanee Food Pantry.

With the Coronavirus pandemic, it's impossible to have the typical grief support that they usually offer at OSF in Kewanee and Galesburg. Pastor Jim Reynolds joined WKEI on Tuned In today to talk about how he and his group are adapting. It's also a conversation about grief in daily life. How we grieve for a lost job, a lost routine, or, more urgently, a lost loved one. Grief support services are still available at OSF in new ways.

Princeton Mayor Joel Quiram spoke with WZOE morning host Paul Bomleny to give a COVID-19 update. The mayor said this is being projected as the worst week yet for COVID-19 reported cases and deaths with the virus spreading faster than ever. He said there’s still too much socializing in groups, too much ignoring of social distancing guidelines and too much moving about occurring in not only Princeton but everywhere. The mayor also commented on the recent resignation of Perry Memorial Hospital President/CEO Annette Schnabel.

Dr Cliff Martin was our guest on Tuned In on Monday. Dr Martin discussed how OSF Healthcare is handling the COVID-19 pandemic right now. In the interview we discuss the need for PPE, the need for PPE and how OSF staff are handling the outbreak on an emotional level. Our doctors, nurses and support staff are on the frontlines of the outbreak. Each week we check in with Dr. Martin for more on the Hospital preparation for and response to COVID-19.

Stark County has its first Positive test for COVID-19. Henry County now has 9 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The Henry and Stark County Health Department is working to keep people informed. But, numbers aren't everything. The most important thing to remember is to keep up social distance, to shelter at home and to wash your hands. Regardless of the numbers if you keep to what the experts advise, you have the best chance of getting through the pandemic.

Wethersfield Schools have purchased hot spots for students who, until now, did not have internet at home for online learning. Using new features available, Wethersfield has begun an aggressive online classroom with teachers interacting with students and students getting back to the routine of learning everyday. It's still unusual but Wethersfield, like other schools across the state, is learning everyday about new ways to remain interactive and involved with students.
