There are still 5 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henry County but more are coming. As testing becomes more prevalent, more positive tests are inevitable. That's why the Shelter at Home Order and Social Distancing rules remain urgently important to adhere to. The only way to beat the Coronavirus is to flatten the curve, but to do that we need to keep to only essential trips and adhere to the guidelines given by the experts. Jacque Komnick tells WKEI that the Girl Scouts have embraced shelter at home and adapted with new media such as Zoom Meetings and a YouTube channel featuring daily lessons and challenges for Girl Scouts to complete. We start however, with an inspiring story about what happened with all the Girl Scout Cookies left for sale when Shelter at Home kicked in. It's lovely.

Jim Bohannon, whose show airs weeknights from 9 to Midnight on WKEI, dropped by the WKEI Morning Show on Friday. Jim has been isolated at home for years with his home radio studio and says he's coping well. His thoughts are with those who are struggling. He's also monitoring the politics, the President's leadership and the divisiveness that is not needed at this time.

COVID-19 Update

Kathy Werderman from Kewanee Animal Control, the Kewanee Pound and Kewanee Friends of the Animals was our guest on Tuned In on Friday. We wanted to make sure Kewanee's four legged friends are coping with the COVID-19 shutdowns and limited essential services. Things are good. The pound is operating and there are currently no dogs in need of homes at this time which is great news as finding a foster home at this time for any dog would be a challenge.

Jamie Roth, public relations manager for Victims Services at WIRC-CAA, was a guest on AM Macomb with Bill Schmalfeldt to discuss incidents of domestic violence during the COVID-19 crisis.

There are now 5 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henry County. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department confirmed the new number in our Daily Briefing. Three new cases include a woman in her 50's. a teenage girl and a man in his 50s. These new cases only underline the need to adhere to social distancing rules, essential travel rules and and Shelter at Home.

Seniors over 60 qualify to receive Home Delivered Meals from the Henry County Senior Center with just a phone call. Cassandra Schmoll tells WKEI that they are eager to sign up more seniors for home delivered meal. It's great way to help seniors shelter at home by making sure they are getting a full and nutritious meal. The senior center is also in need of volunteers to deliver home delivered meals. Contact the senior center to receive home delivered meals or to volunteer at 309-853-8831.
