After a successful first attempt, the Kewanee Area United Way is ready to go again with their emergency supplies drive. Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way talks about the supplies, Cleaning Products and Personal Hygiene products, the success of the first run and how people can apply to receive the emergency supplies on the next go around.

RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI for our Daily Briefing on COVID-19. There are now two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henry County and the Health Department is following CDC and IDPH guidelines as protocol for aiding the patients and following up with anyone the patients came in close contact with.

Stark County is one of the lucky few counties that currently does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 but that is not stopping them from being prepared. We talked with Stark County Board Chairman Al Curry about the County emergency response and how the County Board is doing all they can to support their joint effort with the Henry County Emergency Management Director Matt Schnepple.

Dr Cliff Martin is the Chief Medical Officer at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center. We spoke with Dr Martin about the ongoing OSF response and preparation for COVID-19. There are currently 2 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henry County and we talked to Dr Martin about what the response might look like if these were patients at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center.

Kewanee City Manager Gary Bradley says the City of Kewanee prepared as much as possible and was ready as a city could be as COVID-19 began to creep further into the state. Essential services such as police and fire as well as trash pick up are continuing and the City is offering resources to help local businesses struggling under Shelter at Home orders and the closure of most public areas.

Henry County is extending their disaster declaration related to COVID-19. Stark County is expected to follow suit. This is mostly a formality to keep resources fully available to the Emergency Management team. This as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Illinois as do the number of deaths.

Doug Allen Nash, the drive behind "The Official Johnny Cash Tribute Band", shares his thoughts on the days situation, and has a positive outlook down the road.
