  • Episode #223- Reading "Go Back to Bethel" from "A Word for You Today"- Friday, 10/30/2020

Today's reading is from Genesis 35:15 (NLT), "Jacob named the place Bethel."

    Additional Scripture:  Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

    Step Back to Step Up

A lesson from my Dad (this will make even more sense if you know how to drive a stick shift):  Sometimes you have to downshift to build up power and be able to blast forward.

Today's reading is about going back to where we first met God,  recommitting ourselves, and strengthening our relationships with Him.  Some of you know the song, Take Me Back.  "Take me back to the place where I first received you . . . where I first believed."

  • Episode #221 - Reading "The Gift of Encouragement" from "A Word for You Today"- Wednesday, 10/28/2020

Today's reading is from Romans 12:6, 8 (NIV), "If your gift is to encourage, then give encouragement."

Additional Scripture:  Job 29:24 (NLT), Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV), and Psalm 38:17 (NLT).

Want to know how to influence someone for years to come?  Encourage them, today!

There have been times when I've been down, and I recall an encouraging word from someone .. . . from years ago.  It's amazing what sticks with you over the years.  Some encouragement is recent and some words from my childhood and teenage years are still with me.  I thank God for bringing those encouraging words to mind.  More than that, I thank Him for the people who spoke them.

Take a moment to remember a kind, encouraging word someone spoke to you.  Can't recall anything?  Ok.  Then think of a time when you encouraged someone else.  That makes you an encourager!  You've no idea the number of lives you've touched and influenced with your words. (Keep in mind that people pass on good things.)  Please don't forget that.  🥰

  • Episode #219 - Reading "Finding Purpose in Your Work" from "A Word for You Today"- Monday, 10/26/2020

Today's reading is from Genesis 2:15 (TLB), "God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to care for it."

    Additional Scripture:  Genesis 2:19 (NKJV)

Joy in All the Work Places

We spend lots of time working. For many, more than the time we spend sleeping. Yes, a job well done is its own reward. It's even better when we are grateful and find joy in the work we do . . . even just a little. It's possible to find purpose in your work (or possibly find new work).  ;)

  • Episode #218- Reading "Be Generous with God" from "A Word for You Today"- Sunday, 10/25/2020

Today's reading is from 1 Kings 17:13 (NIV), "Elijah said to her, 'Don't be afraid.'"

Additional Scripture:  Proverbs 3:9 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

"The more you give, the more He gives to you."

That's a line from one of my favorite songs, You Can't Beat God Giving. It encourages us to continue to give back to God (as does today's reading). In good times, give. In the toughest times, give. There are many ways to give. Remain open and ask God.

    "You can't beat God giving
    No matter how you try.
Just as sure as you are living
And the Lord is in heaven on high.
    The more you give
The more He gives to you.
    Just keep on giving
    Because it's really true.
That you can't beat God giving
    No matter how you try."
