Known internationally, Chief Judge Frank Caprio (1936-2025) was known as the “Compassionate Judge,” as he always took into account people’s life circumstances when deciding on their court cases. He was known for saying “It’s not a sin to get knocked down, it’s a sin to not get back up again.” A child of Italian immigrants, his story is also the American story.
