Apple Music is getting two huge new features coming in June 2021 with iOS 14.6. 

Spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, which basically brings the immersive 3D, 360 degrees sound stage that’s been blowing minds for movies and TV to Apple Music.

There’ll be thousands of spatial audio tracks at launch, and Apple Music will be constantly adding more Dolby Atmos tracks and playlists. And you can play them on any AirPod or Beats… pods with a W1 and H1 chip, which is almost everything since the headphone jack got jacked back in 2016. As well as any recent iPhone, iPad, or Mac, HomePods, and Apple TV if it’s connected to a Dolby Atmos system. No dynamic head tracking for audio like there’s been for video. At least not yet.

Lossless audio is coming to all 75 million songs in the Apple Music catalog using Apple’s own ALAC format. Yeah, Apple Music streaming only, at least for now, no iTunes purchases or upgrades.

Zuckerberg met with Cook and asked him, face-to-face, CEO-to-CEO, how Cook would handle the fallout from Cambridge Analytica? And Cook, acidly, told Zuckerberg that Facebook should delete any and all data collected outside their own apps. Zuckerberg was… stunned, obviously ignored the advice, and would go on to tell an employee that Facebook needed to inflict pain on Apple.

Apple… well, Apple just decided that if Facebook wouldn’t delete our 3rd party data, Apple would let us delete their access to it, with iOS 14.5 and App Tracking transparency. They could still track what we were doing in their own apps, but if they wanted to keep tracking us across the web and other apps as well, they had to ask our permission first. 

Now, 95% of American iPhone and iPad users, and roughly 88% of global users, are hard nope-ing out of 3rd party app tracking on the daily.

When’s Apple putting M1 in the iPhone? If Apple puts M1 in the iPhone I will switch from Android! Apple simply must put M1 in the iPhone — nothing else will satisfy fans! Will the iPhone 13 arrive with an M1 inside?

M1X vs M2, the next extension vs the next generation of Apple silicon for the Mac. So... why does there seem to be so much confusion and misinformation just swirling all around it?

Nikkei just pushed out a piece on the M2 and Bloomberg previously reported on what we’re colloquially calling the M1X, basically, the chipsets all of us nerds are waiting for to run the higher-end MacBooks Pro, Mac mini, iMacs, and the eventual Mac Pro and redesigned MacBook Air that we’ve been waiting for. Clamoring for! But these names, M2 and M1X are being thrown around… almost willy-nilly, and so I think it’d be super useful, really a convenience to just clarify what they actually mean...
