Renewal Church

It seems that our world is brimming over with evil. Racial bigotry, terrorism, political strife, crime, war (and the threat of war), meanness, loneliness, and well, you can finish this list because you feel these things crashing into your heart every day. And it leaves us all with feelings of anger, fear, and sadness, which often lead to anxiety, rage, isolation and tribalism, medicating, depression, and callousness.

Jesus' response to all this? His church. His chosen people whom He summoned and set apart to be a counter-story to all this chaos, to be His presence of healing and gladness, to be His mouthpiece calling every tribe and tongue to, "Come on! Join us! Be a part of this beautiful, never-ending story!"

This Sunday, we continue with our current series, Vision. We who follow Jesus have new eyes - eyes that see a great harvest to be gathered...eyes to see the kingdom of God on the earth as it is in heaven. We hope you will join us as we paint a picture of how we feel the Holy Spirit desires to equip and use Renewal Church to be a part of this magnificent, unstoppable story!

"Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?"

This is what two mysterious men dressed in white robes said to Jesus' disciples as he ascended from their sight.

"Why do you stand looking into heaven? You've got places to go and things to do."

Christianity isn't just devotional (staring into heaven). It's a stewardship. So let us steward our faith well, seeking to accomplish what Jesus has appointed us to do in his name.

It's easy to feel like growth has taken place in us when we experience a measure of success. Mountaintop moments have become synonymous with victory over sin. But really, the lowest points of our lives have the greatest potential to be the most fruitful. This Sunday we dig through scripture and find that the conditions in our valleys are often most conducive to sustainable growth in our hearts.

Joined to God. Held In God. Filled with God. Led by God. Saved by God. Adopted by God. Loved by God. All because of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. And how are we to know all this has happened in our lives? By our unprejudiced, brave, maturing love for one another.
