Many people who’ve grown up in the church are repulsed by the call to repent - to give Jesus authority over their lives. We feel like we might miss out of we yield to Jesus. Yet, when the Apostle Peter entreated people to repent, he said something both strange and thrilling: “Repent...turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19-20). Throughout the season of Lent, leading up to Easter, we will be immersing ourselves in repentance with our eyes set on the hope that we, too, will experience times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.

That passion was for all of us, our renewal. And as his followers, filled with the Holy Spirit, we are compelled to live the same way - toward one another in love. This Sunday, we continue our series, This Is Us, as we talk more about our intent to be the kind of church that is characterized by deep care for one another.
