In 2018, he also detoxed from a 33 year opioid addiction and in 2018 write his book "The Ride to Victory: Surviving Trauma and Addiction".

For almost two decades he became a silent sufferer of depression and PTSD before realising he needed help and, for the first time in his life, tells his story.
