When an individual struggles with mental health concerns, a crisis situation may become even more overwhelming for all parties involved.
Retired police officer Troy Siewert dedicated the last seven years of his law enforcement career as a Crisis Intervention Team trainer. Siewert worked with numerous police departments, first responders, local hospitals, mental health providers, and other organizations to educate and create a resource network to build a streamlined crisis response network.
After his recent retirement, Siewert wanted to continue his passion for raising awareness for mental health and crisis response and has formed Insightful Crisis Response, LLC. to continue his educational mission.
The organization works to educate both the community and law enforcement and/or first responders to be able to recognize and respond to a mental health situation and how to interact together to get the individual help and treatment. By training and collaborating with the community, professional organizations, and other local resources, the goal of Insightful Crisis Response, LLC is to create a synergy of awareness, compassion, assistance, and understanding to help alleviate crisis situations.

In the event that a loved one passes away, what should do you do if you inherit firearms? Many people have estate plans, which include items such as wills or trusts to delegate their property and effects to loved ones and friends, but even if no estate plan is in place and a loved one dies and their personal effects include firearms, there are certain legal considerations to keep in mind.
There are already a lot of emotions and stressors that surface when a loved one passes away and you have to deal with the personal items in their estate. But when beneficiaries of the estate suddenly become in possession of firearms from the estate, there are many other common concerns and problems.
Both Federally and Illinois, there are specific firearm laws for beneficiaries to take into consideration.
If the recipients of the estate do not have a Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOID), what steps should they take?
Can an estate be held liable for unregistered firearms?
Attorney Ryan N. Hejmanowski and Attorney Gwendolyn J. Sterk discuss some legal considerations for families dealing with firearms in a probate matter in Illinois.

For more than 15 years, Attorney Ryan N. Hejmanowski has been dedicated to serving the needs of those in Will, DuPage, Cook, and Kankakee County, from Joliet to Chicago Heights, and Orland Park to Kankakee, as well as the surrounding communities.

Chances are, we've all hit a point where we feel stuck and unmotivated. We may be pining to do something, but we don't know what - or where to start.
Guest Brian P. Swift, founder of Swift Outdoor Accessible Recreation, host of the "Everything Inspired" radio show, and four-time published author, joins Gwen Sterk to share how we can all find a little bit of inspiration.
In 1979 on the day after Christmas, Brian Swift, at the age of 17, broke his neck playing football leaving him a C5/6 quadriplegic, with permanent paralysis from his chest down. In the process of his rehabilitation, he became aware of the importance of recreation for rehabilitation, not only to improve mobility but to improve mental well-being. Brian saw this event in his life as a challenge and an opportunity to assist others. This life-changing event developed into his personal crusade. Swift has pushed through life with his head up, a positive mindset, and has become an advocate and inspiration for everyone around him.
For more information or to contact Brian P. Swift, visit: https://soarnonprofit.com/home/about/ or tune into his program on Wednesdays at 12:10pm CST at www.wjol.com

Many people have a credit card or two in their names, and some people may add or consider adding another user to their credit card accounts for various reasons. Some parents may add a child to their account to help them establish credit or a couple may add their partner or spouse to their accounts.
There are two different types of users that may be added to a credit card account: a joint user or an authorized user. What are the differences between these users though? Are there benefits to adding users to your credit account? Are there risks, like damage to YOUR credit report or personal obligation to repay a debt that you don't directly feel was yours? What happens if your spouse is a user on your account and you're in the process of a divorce, or already are divorced?
Tune in to hear Attorney Jim Smith of Fair Credit Attorneys explain the differences between joint and authorized users to Family Law Attorney Gwendolyn J. Sterk of Sterk Family Law Group, as well as some of the benefits and risks of each type of user.
