Why do some people welcome Jesus while others resist Him?

In Week 2 of our Countdown series, Pastor Ron Merrell walks through the events of Holy Week to show how people responded very differently to Jesus as He moved toward the cross.

Some shouted “Hosanna.” Some listened closely to His teaching. Some were healed and changed. Others were blinded by pride, cultural pressure, political expectations, religious mindsets, and comfortable lives.

This message explores the strong currents that keep people from receiving Jesus and the rising tide of God’s work through Holy Week. It shows how the Word exposes hypocrisy, how hearts are softened, and how the cross declares both love and victory.

From the triumphal entry to the temple to the garden, this sermon helps us see what it means to respond honestly to Jesus and to walk with Him through each day of Holy Week.
