  • Whistler – The Accounting. ep31, 421213
A wealthy rancher named Tom has become increasingly irate over Ralph. The lad is the grown son of his wife, and prone to be shiftless. Ralph’s girlfriend, Vera, has moved in as well, but is equally useless around the house. Will Mary stand for it to have her son be kicked out, along with his girlfriend?
Though Vera is fine with walking out, the simpering Ralph figures he could always get a job as a bank teller. Changes at the bank mean an audit. There’s nothing that Ralph has to worry about… is there? Just a matter of a little embezzling, that’s all. He comes clean to Vera how he borrowed cash from the bank to pay back a gambling debt.
Back at the ranch, Ralph overhears the flaring temper of Tom, over a business matter with another rancher. Will there be any hope of borrowing money from him? How are things going between Mary and Tom? With Tom’s rages, he could die in one of them. He has enough life insurance… doesn’t he? When Tom is stabbed through the heart, might it be at the hand of that business rival, Miller?
The cops are no fools, and when the heat is on, Ralph feels the pressure. But was it him? The flurry of confessions are designed to cover up for each other. The Whistler will have the final say in who was guilty, and who will pay the price of justice.

  • Fibber McGee and Molly – Radio Quiz Show. ep418, 441212
His monthly bank statement has arrived, and it has Fibber fuming over errors in his account. Though he isn’t prone to swearing, it doesn’t mean Fibber’s language isn’t colorful. As he winds down, Alice Darling enters to tell about liquid stocking, a product to deal with shortages of the real thing, and learns what she might get for Fibber for Christmas. Doc Gamble pops in with his dose of gripes, and insults for Fibber. The gents bemoan a lack of cigarettes, and other items. Just how much is Doc’s bill? It might change Fibber’s attitude toward the medical man. Billy Mills plays, Strong Again.
As a favor to doc, Fibber decides to hunt down a pack of cigarettes for him, but talks to Mirt the phone operator about her young relative. Maybe being on a quiz show, where cigarettes are the prize will boost Fibber’s ego as well. Beulah is called on to postpone dinner arrangements. What will she think of the McGee’s being on a quiz show?
As Molly puts on her face, Teeny visits. She tells about her daddy being on the radio once. Will Fibber keep up with her warm up questions? After working out her homework assignment for her, Fibber and Molly head to the station to hear Harlowe Wilcox get his commercial ready for the air.
The Kingsmen sing, Tu Rah Lu Ra Lu. Under pressure of the moment, Fibbers confidence wanes, despite a bit of subtle hinting from the show emcee. The pressure is on for even the other contestant, and Fibber manages to answer his final question. Will his grand prize score him those much coveted cigarettes?

Lum has finally got a customer. It just happened to be grandpap while he was napping in the barber chair. Now, grandpap complains to Squire Skimp about the possibility of a law suit for ruining his appearance. Will it really make him lose his job as telegram delivery boy for Dick Huddleston?
Squire listens, but thinks the complaints aren’t worthy of a law suit. Just wait til grandpap gets his hands on that spavin legged Lum.
As the grumpy grandpap storms out, Lum comes out of his hiding place in Squire’s office.

Lum isn’t afraid of the scrappy old gent… is he? He talks it up pretty well, as he jokes about the baby faced grandpap. Who knew his beard was so important to him? When grandpap returns, Squire calls Mousey an Cedric over to witness what could b the fight of the century.

  • Bob Hope (Pepsodent Preview) Camp Callin. 420208
Bob “Army Officer” Hope tries on a couple alternate openings for this rehearsal. The camp, located near San Diego gets teased about its ocean side location, black outs, dice, being in the guardhouse, officers, the foggy weathered and more. Military secrets and jokes about them abound. Daylight Saving Time is to begin, and takes over as the focus of jokes. Getting up early, milking cows, flubs in the hen house, mixed up radio schedules, and more. Jerry Kolonna phones in with his own jokes on the time change. What does it have to do with sugar shortages, Jerry’s girlfriend, or the time in other time zones? Maybe nothing.
Francis Langford sings, I Don’t Want to Walk Without You. Joining the jokes, Francis gets in on such topics as beans, beaches, palm trees, dating soldiers, buglers, and being in good shape. Billie Burke joins the fun and gets thrilled to be one of the few ladies on the base. Letters from home, radio programs, and whopping the boys into the fighting spirit are some of her topics with Bob. They joke about how fast the airplane plants are turning out airplanes. Will Bob be joining up soon? Dating, MP’s, and the big costal guns turn to the forefront of jokes. Skinny Ennis, the Red Cross, matters of health, and more are discussed. How might Billie help with the soldier’s morale? Homemade goodies, making sweaters, mending socks, or buttons, or some other way? The Six Hits and a Miss sing, Blues in the Night.
In another installment in the Life of Bob Hope, he and Skinny Ennis are in the Army, on KP, but get to go dancing with Betty Hutton and Francis Langford. An emergency means the guys need to return to camp. Captain Jerry Kolonna puts out the call to return to camp, as well as other alerts to be aware of as troops return. • Eddie Bracken Story – Tacks. 450402 (retro608)
Eddie has his hands full, starting with girl troubles, and entries in a beauty contest. He seems to at least win an early victory over his off the microphone rival, Otto.
First, he has to help Mr Monahan in some legal trouble where a customer is suing the man over an aleged mix up, and a matter of swallowing a handful of carpet tacks. Is that even possible?

Monahan uses his typical bullying style to recruit Eddies help. Forcing him to swallow the tasty treats in the goodie bag, then dragging him to a doctor for some x-rays. Will the results be conclusive for evidence in court? Has Eddie been poisoned? No time to spend in worrying. It’s off to see the jude.
Plot twists all come to a tangled mess when the judge doesn’t have x-rays to look at. Will the disgruntled customer win the case? Monahan bullies his way through the legal red tape, tossing the legal system aside for his version of common sense. If the judge didn’t have x-ray pictures, what did he have? Let’s just say it was something far more attractive than Eddie’s innards. In the end, the legal matter is resolved, but what ever became of that beauty contest, or Eddie’s date? Or for that matter… Otto?
