This week we continue to celebrate Jim Henson by discussing other cinematic ventures that he was involved in. We start out with some that we aren't that familiar with, so it's kind of a wandering, rambling trip for a few minutes... but things pick up when we get into the more popular Jim Henson Productions. In the second half you are treated to a wandering, rambling review of not only The Dark Crystal, but also the classic film Labyrinth. You won't want to miss what we have deemed the shittiest review of Jim Henson's body of work. Hey.... you remind me of the babe...the babe with the power.... of VOODOO

It goes without saying that everyone who was once a child (and we hope that's everyone) has been affected and influenced by the work of Jim Henson. He was, without a doubt, the greatest puppeteer ever. We are going to take the next few shows to pay tribute to Jim and his many creations. In this episode, we take a trip on down to Sesame Street... and immediately go right off track. We speculate as to why Telly Monster is so damn nervous, we talk about why Oscar changed from orange to green, we try to resolve an irrational fear of number obsessed purple vampires, and we argue about if the ladybug picnic should be charged with arson. We also remember some of the greatest friends that a kid could have and some of the best skits and songs from our childhood. Sesame Street had a huge impact on both of us, and on millions (and millions) of children worldwide. It's a sunny day... sweep those clouds away and join the Retro Renegades as we Follow That Bird to where the air is sweet.... let's head on down to Sesame Street!

When most people think of cartoons they think of Saturday mornings and bowls of cereal.... but there was a generation of cartoons that were late night, lewd, crude and just plain old funny. Happy Halloween from your pals here at The Power Hour! We thought we'd give you a little something different, if you are so inclined feel free to watch It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown along with us as we provide nonsensical commentary. We hope you have a fantastical Halloween and get all the treats, or tricks, that you hoped for. 

You may remember struggling through a yawn, sleepily eating popcorn as you waited under a blanket on the couch for that late night monster movie to start. It was always a rewarding triumph if you were able to stay awake for the beginning, even if you were dozing by the opening credits... it still counted! Sometimes you were tuning in for the film, but more often you wanted to see what the horror host was up to. The 80s and 90s were rich in the traditional hosted movie shows, some were locally produced while others were on a larger stage and gained international fame. From local heros to legendary figures we touch on all our favorites in this week's tribute to the folks who stayed up late with us watching scary movies... Here's to the horror hosts!

These days scary movies and spooky activities are a way of life for your lovable, cuddly, furry hosts but way back when Halloween was a special time. You would spend months planning for the perfect costume, you would try to select the best treat so that your house would be the talk of the school... and you would pull out the most mischievous tricks. One night full of amazing fun that in turn made amazing memories.
