It If God is zealous over Zion, shouldn’t His people share that zeal? Of course, it might help if they understood exactly what Zion is, and why Zionism is important to the Creator of the Universe. That’s why Al McCarn wrote his book, Christian Zionism 101: Ten Reasons Christians Should Support Israel and the Jewish People. In this second part of our conversation Al shares some more of those important reasons why Christians should care about Zion.
Zeal is a big deal in all the things of God, but like all things there is a degree of maturity and wisdom required to be zealous in the right way and the right time. That’s what we learn from David Jones and Barry Phillips in their midrash called, “Zealous.” Will Spires and Jimmie Black round out this show with their musical gifts.

Why should Christians care about Israel and the Jewish people? That’s a question Al McCarn answers in his new book, Christian Zionism 101: Ten Reasons Christians Should Support Israel and the Jewish People. In this three-part interview, Al tells the story of why he was inspired to write the book. It all starts with the definition of Zionism: the movement for the return of the Jewish people to their ancestral homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel.
So why exactly should Christians (both in the traditional churches and Messianic and Hebraic followers of Messiah Yeshua) be Zionists? Al answers that by sharing an overview of the ten biblical, historical, cultural, ethical, and prophetic reasons presented in his book. If you love Israel, but have trouble explaining why, then this is a message you should hear – and a resource you should have on your bookshelf!
The subject of Christian Zionism touches every aspect of our faith. We hear that in the music of Teshuva, Rut Banks, and House of Aaron. It’s the honest truth which we should know and live out. Barry Phillip and David Jones look into how to do that in their midrash, “Honesty or Truth.”

We have enough reason to be afraid if we look at the circumstances around us. But we serve a God who wants us to overcome those circumstances, which means somehow we have to find a way to deal with our fears. That's what David Jones and Barry Phillips discuss in this midrash originally recorded as the world was in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

What would you think if someone told you the way we handle money, work our jobs, and relate to our employers is very different from God’s intended order as explained in the Bible? Well, that’s exactly what you’re going to hear in this interview! Our guest is Josh Tolley, speaker, advisor, and author of several books, including Quit Your Job Or Die, and EvangelPreneur. Josh shares some of his experience as both a business owner and a student of the Bible, with emphasis on how our current economic system does not match up with what our Creator intended. This is a paradigm-shifting interview that opens the door to an exciting – and sometimes scary – adventure into alignment with our Father’s intended best for His people.

What divides us? What place do things like race, politics, national origin, or doctrinal beliefs have in the Body of Messiah? How does this division impact our ability to pray for those who count themselves as our enemies? These are the question David Jones and Barry Phillips consider in this midrash recorded shortly after the riot in Charlottesville, Virginia, in the summer of 2017.

Did you ever think of the Bible as an agricultural book? It may seem obvious since all the Biblical writers lived in ancient agrarian societies, but as Bryan Barnes can tell you, it’s one of those obvious truths that we seldom think about. In our advanced technological civilization, we are far removed from the direct connection with nature that defined the lives of our ancestors. Bryan discovered (or rediscovered) this when he and his family returned to farming in their home state of California. To his surprise, he realized that much of the Torah is understandable only in an agricultural context! That’s why the Barnes family launched Growing in Torah, a ministry that brings young people to their farm to teach them how to cultivate the land as our Creator intended, and in the process make a deeper connection with Him and with His living Word. Bryan tells us his story, and in the process shares some resources to help people of all ages in their walk with Messiah Yeshua.

Barry Phillips has been serving Messiah Yeshua since he was a child – much of that time as a pastor and evangelist. His faith was severely tested when the Lord called him out of established ministry as a denominational pastor and into the path of inquiring about Torah and how it applies to followers of Messiah Yeshua. That path led him to shift from the traditional Sunday church setting to shepherding a congregation that honors the seventh day Shabbat and the commandments of Torah. How did that happen? That’s what we learn in this conversation with Barry, the pastor of House of David in Gloucester, Virginia, the teacher at Remnant of Yisrael, and one of the founding Elders of B’ney Yosef North America.

It just makes sense that humility, love, compassion, and mercy are the building blocks of our God’s Kingdom. At least, that’s what we learn from scripture, but it’s not always what we exhibit in daily life. Tony Boyatt can talk about from experience! We have heard about it in the music Tony and The Exodus Road Band have shared over the years. Now Tony is calling fellow believers to follow Messiah Yeshua’s example so that we can make progress in healing His people and the communities where His people are gathered.
Can we make a difference? That’s a matter of faith – which means not just intellectually agreeing with our God, but doing what He says! We hear about that in this week’s midrash from our Elders David Jones and Barry Phillips as they conclude their discussions on the Weightier Matters of the Law.

A major topic in End Times discussions is the rebuilding of God’s Temple in Jerusalem. What seldom enters into such conversations is God’s desire to build His house inside His people! This is one of the important matters Tony Boyatt has prayerfully considered over the years. It’s a matter that has inspired many of the songs Tony has written for The Exodus Road Band. We talk about it in this second part of our three-part conversation.
Our Elders David Jones and Barry Phillips are also talking about the Weightier Matters of the Law. In their midrash, they investigate the meaning of Mercy and how Yeshua intends for us to practice it.

What is more important to our Creator: that we have perfect knowledge of His word, or that we act on what we know with hearts of compassion? Tony Boyatt has been talking about this since the earliest days of The Exodus Road Band. In fact, the band’s first album is called Heart of the Matter! In this first part of our three-part conversation, Tony shares how he learned that truth through hard experience. He has walked out the lesson of repentance that has led him to healing and to greater freedom in Messiah. It’s a lesson Tony believes the Torah Movement should take to heart.
Tony’s message resonates with the midrash our Elders David Jones and Barry Phillips share on the Weightier Matters Yeshua talked about. In this first part of their discussion, they talk about the weightier matter of Justice. That’s a topic that we should pay attention to and apply, as we hear in the musical messages of The Exodus Road Band.
