Reunion Roadmap

This week we conclude our visit with Steve Wearp of Blessed Buy Israel. As he explains, something significant happened a few years ago that made him aware of his personal connection to the great division between Jews and Christians. As you listen, you just might hear something in Steve’s story that resonates with you as well. In other words, what is it that each one of us can do to help repair the breach between these two parts of our God’s covenant family?

Kelly Ferrari Mills and Jimmie Black are our musical guests this week. Our midrash segment carries the title, “Exposed,” which is another way of saying, “your sins will find you out.” Listen as Barry Philips and David Jones unpack that bit of folk wisdom in light of Scripture!

What happens when a family makes a decision to be a difference for good in the longstanding division between Christians and Jews? That is what Steve Wearp and his family have been doing for many years! Their journey had begun even before they helped establish the March of Remembrance, the US edition of an initiative that began in Germany to honor survivors of the Shoa (Holocaust) and bring healing and restoration between victims and perpetrators and their descendants. The Wearp family then took another significant step by starting Blessed Buy Israel in 2017 to stand with the Jewish people and combat the rise of anti-Semitism by the simple process of making products from Judea and Samaria available to purchase on the internet, thereby giving people around the world a way to sow directly into the families living in the Heartland of Israel. Most recently, Steve and his family have been an integral part of the Nations’ 9th of Av, a new outreach helping Christians and Messianic/Hebraic followers of Yeshua understand the history of Christian persecution of Jews, and joining with Jews to mourn on Tisha b’Av, the “Fast of the 5th Month” (Zechariah 7:1-3, 8:19), in compassion and contrition for our part in their suffering through the ages, and in commitment to heal the breach between the two halves of God’s covenant family.

Our visit with Steve is punctuated by musical offerings from the House of Aaron and the Aleph Tav Band, and by a new midrash from Barry Philips and David Jones on “Discerning A Prophet.” Together, these messages in word and song bring us along on another challenging and uplifting journey down the highway of restoration!

Solomon Lopez and Tzefania Pappas join us one more time to finish up their presentation of Beyond the Mountain. How has this new ministry initiative had an impact in its first year? What are their hopes for the coming year and beyond? Listen to the hearts of these brothers as they share their desire to see God’s people made whole and His Kingdom restored. Solomon brings our musical offerings once again: two more songs from his new album, “Out of that Place,” which is available at www.hebraism.org.

Our Elders Barry Philips and David Jones present the next segment of their midrash on the subject of Prophets. Who are the prophets in the body of Messiah today? Is their role different from the prophets we find in Scripture? You may be surprised at their conclusions!

Our show this week opens with the second of a three-part interview with Solomon Lopez and our own Tzefania Pappas. In this part, they explain more about the purpose of Beyond the Mountain, their ministry initiative intended to address that which prevents us from living in peace with our Creator and with our neighbors. How does this work, both within individuals and among communities? Solomon and Tzefania will tell you they don’t have all the answers, but they are humbly seeking the way forward in connection with others.

Barry Philips and David Jones carry that theme further with the first part of a discussion about Prophets. As we came to appreciate the Torah, did we perhaps leave the Holy Spirit behind? This is a thought-provoking midrash that calls on us to assess where we are now and where we are headed.

We share as well some more music from Solomon’s new album, “Out of that Place,” which you can hear and acquire at www.hebraism.org.

We open 2020 with a new interview series featuring Solomon Lopez and our own Tzefania Pappas! Throughout this month, they will tell the story of Beyond the Mountain, a ministry initiative birthed in their first meeting at the Third B’ney Yosef Congress in Ariel, Israel. What is Beyond the Mountain? As they explain, it’s an outreach of compassion and healing to address some long-overlooked wounds that continue to hinder even the most seasoned followers of Yeshua and prevent our coming together as the family of our Father in heaven.

Gathering Family is the subject of this week’s midrash from  Barry Philips and David Jones – specifically, the covenant family of Israel into which we are adopted. Solomon carries that theme a bit further with some music from his new album, “Out of that Place,” which you can hear and acquire at www.hebraism.org.

This week we conclude our visit Aaron Bishop of Grafted Together Fellowship of Marietta, South Carolina. Aaron has much to tell us about the impact of Grafted Together and of Darash Chai (Seek Life), the ministry the Bishop family has established to serve the faith community in their region. Listen closely as Aaron explains the way Darash Chai developed from an idea to improve quality of life into an outreach and teaching ministry that literally helps people choose life!

His testimony is punctuated by the musical gifts of Mason Clover and Miriam Houtz. In addition, Barry Philips and David Jones pay attention to the season of the year that approaches as we prepare this show, presenting a midrash on the subject of “Winter Prep.”

Looking for fellowship in the Greenville, South Carolina, area? Try Grafted Together, a new congregation meeting in the town of Marietta. Grafted Together grew out of a home fellowship facilitated by Aaron and Rebekah Bishop. Aaron is our guest for the next three shows, sharing with us the story of their faith walk and the establishment not only of Grafted Together, but their teaching and community service ministry, Darash Chai.

Along with Aaron, we have a midrash by David Jones and Barry Philips on the question of Faith or Emotion, as well as the music of Lenny & Varda and Melody Joy.

We conclude our visit with Sister Georjean Allenbach, Beverly Hall, Donna Matts, and Barbara Wilkins with their final thoughts on the Nations 9th of Av.

In our midrash segment, David Jones and Barry Philips ask when it is appropriate to rebuke a brother. What promotes life and unity among the people of our Creator? The thread of unity and brotherly love is the theme that ties this show together, as we hear in the music of Eved Adonai and Melody Joy.

Part three in our four-part coverage of the Nations 9th of Av is the topic of our interview segment in this show as we continue our conversation with Sister Georjean Allenbach, Beverly Hall, Donna Matts, and Barbara Wilkins. What is it that has hindered good relations between Christians and Jews (or Ephraim and Judah as many see them)? Our guests not only delve into that question but provide observations on how the divisions between us can be healed.

David Jones and Barry Philips follow the interview segment with a discussion of Sukkot and Dwelling, a topic that connects with the testimonies of Barbara, Donna, Beverly, and Sister Georjean. And we have uplifting music as well from Mason Clover and Eved Adonai performing songs that we are blessed to share for the first time on this edition of Reunion Roadmap.
