When was the last time you felt the glow of the Holy Spirit within? There may be talk about being filled with Spirit, but what about an experience that overtakes any discussion? What would it be like to be so filled with Spirit, that you and your clothes just glowed? That was the experience of Jesus. That experience is available to us as well.

Be filled with God's Spirit and you too will have an experience of transfiguration.

Matthew 17:1-9

Where do you experience freedom from fear? It is hard to find places of refuge in this life. Independence is often held higher than collaboration or collective efforts.

When it comes to undocumented immigrants, they are seeking refuge and sanctuary. It is interesting that we are all seeking the same thing in very personal ways. After all is said and done, sanctuary is a place and space of peace. That is what we are all seeking.

Psalm 32

Thoughts in mind reproduce in like kind.

What we hold in our thinking, even before it may be verbally expressed takes the form of our prayers. We may want to believe that our thoughts have nothing to do with what happens in our lives, but that is the basis for how we relate to the world.

Our thoughts are prayers and we are always praying. Shift your thinking to God's will and watch the change in the conditions of your life. The miraculous will be revealed.

John 14:1-6

There are so many things to become angry about. Whether it is a person or a situation, there is no shortage of things upon which to focus our anger. But what is the cost of anger? How much of a toll is it taking on you?

Take a personal inventory of the anger you are holding and you will quickly become aware of the value of forgiveness.

1 Corinthians 3:1-9

We look at high level leaders and we just shake our heads in disbelief. What are they thinking? What has happened to basic diplomacy and civility? Where is the consideration for community and collaboration? There is a great divide in this country and is stretches around the world. There is a breach.

We all need to check in with ourselves as to where the breaches exist in our lives and in our relationships. We too are guilty of maintaining and extending divides in our own lives. There is repair work that must be done and it is God's will that we do the work necessary to repair those breaches.

Isaiah 58:1-12

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Is your heart pure? Are your interactions authentic? Do you give or receive more from others? What is the truth of your heart?

When people refuse the show their hand, they are actually revealing the nature of their heart. That nature is to shield, withhold and not disclose. We are greater than that because it is in revealing our truth and being authentic are we able to reveal the presence and power of God.

Blessed are the pure in heart.

Matthew 5:1-12

Lincoln spoke about a house divided over 160 years ago. He was cautioning about the conditions of turmoil that eventually lead to the Civil War. We are seeing many of those same conditions today. What shall we do?

Examine your heart for the solution. Shift your thinking to cause change wherever you are.

1 Corinthians 1:10-18

Who can add a single hour to the day by worry? Luke 12:25 And yet we continually embrace worry. There are folks who operate with a "shoe drop" consciousness that expects something to worry about will show up at any moment.

The question becomes what will you do with your worries? How will you remedy these conditions? What will be on the other side? Where is your faith in all of this?

If his eye is on the sparrow, then I know he watches me. If we live from the context of knowing that we are in God's hands, all is well. That is the gift of what it means to be a person of faith, knowing that we are covered by God's grace.

Luke 12:22-31

We are not divided except by the barriers that we impose and create. Spirit brings us together. We are one in Spirit and when we come to that realization is when we will overcome the challenges that we attempt to fix with inclusion. It is not until we connect through Spirit will be absolutely overcome those barriers that divide us.

Acts 10:1-43

What if you were presented with an opportunity to take on a fresh new start? Would you consider the change? What if you discovered that you had a secret identity that surpassed the life you are living now, what would you do?

With this new year you have the opportunity to own and embrace your true identity. God has a new name for you and you need only be open to receive this good news.
