Jonathon and Saul are becoming divided and this will help one day Jonathon be loyal to David the King who will take over the Kingdom from Saul.
Psalm 65 Bottle up the goodness of God and drink of His goodness in times of plenty and times of want.
Saul gets impatient and does not honor Samuel or God. Ultimately the problem is that although Saul is tall, handsome and strong he does not have a heart devoted to God.
May we develop a heart that reflects that of our Lord.
In this chapter we see the grace and patience of God upon his people and also the call on their lives to live before Him honorably.
Israel is excited to have a King. That enthusiasm can prevent them from seeing God’s ways and may prevent them from seeing evil. We have a similar situation today in America.
Saul is going to receive the Spirit of God and it is going to enable him to prophesy. The problem is he does not always continue in the Spirit. As we will see he supposed to be in the Word daily. Due to his lack of Godliness his time as King is not going to go well and it will be taken from him.
Congratulations to you in being in the Word of God. I believe these habits will lead to greater faith, obedience and blessing.
Sometimes when I teach and I get done with the teaching, teaching comes to me. Sometimes I would almost like to add some more remarks. May God minister to you and continue to minister to me in this regard.
After finishing this chapter the question became clear is this; Is what I desire in alignment with God?
God allows Israel to have a King. He knew this day would come as he had it written down prior in Deuteronomy 17. No form of government works because people mess it up. The most important thing we can do is trust in Jesus as our King.
Israel must be thinking, why did we not do this all along. The blessing of God returns to Israel when they follow God with all their heart, put away false God’s and pray and fast to the one true God. This is a glroious chapter of scripture. We have seen all the devestation of sin and now we see what God desired, the blessing for faithful obedience.
Israel has been very unfaithful to God and irreverant in their handling of the ark of God. God’s word is meant to be obeyed and obeying leads to blessing and protects us from the consequences of sin.
