It got me thinking about procrastination as a form of sabotage and I thought it would be great to explore this on the podcast as I think this can be a common block for many listeners. 

We know that Sabotage is sneaky. It happens at the subconscious level.   

Sabotage looks like resistance. We can’t seem to get started, or we get started and we stop.

How do we know what sabotage block we are sitting with that’s affecting our eating and weight?

If you are not where you want to be with your eating and weight, it's more than likely that there's a sabotage block (or a combination of blocks) that are in control of your eating and weight. Such as all or nothing thinking, perfectionism, eating to numb out etc.

In this episode I share with you how to identify what's going on with eating and weight with these 4 simple questions. 

This last weekend I was at a professional development course and was paired up with a buddy who wanted to work on her weight regain. 

She lost 60kg a few years ago and started to receive male attention, and whilst part of her enjoyed it, another part of her felt overwhelmed and she didn't know what to do with this new attention. 

This was an identity issue.  

She still had her old fat identity that didn't support her new body, and her body downgraded  (she regained all the weight).

Today is a question that has come up a lot recently in the WLS clinic that I thought would be helpful to share.  This is a quick, easy and helpful tip for you to use that’s in the moment when deciding what to eat, whilst not going out of control with food.   I used it actually on Sat night when I was out to dinner!!!

Last week my almost 2 year had another seizure, and I was surprised at how I responded. 

Do you think of worst case scenarios of how you will respond to future events? "I'll fail" "I can't do it" "I'll be a mess" 

That's exactly what was happening for me, until I was in that exact same situation...and my response surprised me!

I get a little ranty in this episode, as I am seeing some big issues with certain posts in some WLS communities.   I talk about this a lot with my clients because it can be very triggering!

First of all, I think overall communities offer a great sense of support, connection, encouragement.  They bring like minded people together and a sense of understanding and the feeling that you’re not alone  - which is so incredibly important. 

However, when there aren’t strict boundaries around posts - it can become a bit of a free for all and some of these types of posts may lead you to take a step back on your own path and lead to sabotage.

This week we hear from an NBT participant Susette. She had always struggled with her weight and tried everything to lose weight over the years. She decided to have WLS a few years ago and was going really well. In fact she was only 5 kg off her goal weight until she faced a stressful life event that sabotaged her success and her old ways started to sneak back in.

Many women who I work with hold themselves at a much higher standard than they do others. 

This is a subconscious Block around how you treat others vs how you treat yourself, which is underpinned by self worth.

The block is that if I hold myself to the same standard as I do to others, then I’m a selfish person, because if I relax how I treat myself and talk to myself.  If I relax this high standard that I have for myself, then I will let myself off the hook and perhaps lose motivation to change. I might just give up and resign myself to where I’m at (which is what I don’t want).
