This can either be a fear before surgery and a real concern after surgery.
I often raise this as a potential flag for some clients that I see pre surgery.
I find there's a real mix. Some women say - no way I can't wait to get rid of the excess weight, that won't be a problem for me. I get it - often we don't know until we are in it that it could be a potential issue. But if your weight has been on you for years or decades, it's on you for a reason. It's serving a role, otherwise you wouldn't be here.
For other women, they can def see that this could be an issue for them once they lose a significant amount of weight after surgery and they have concerns that it could lead to sabotage.
Excess weight is safe.
Excess weight gives you protection and a buffer.
It's something we really want to check in with ourselves on pre and post surgery.
Post surgery it could be a key reason as to why you regained your lost weight.
Many of my clients have struggled with their weight their whole life.
Your first memory is being the chubby kid.
Often another family member was small, didn't struggle with their weight.
But you always felt like the big one.
You'd go to school and notice that play out as well.
Maybe your friends were wearing certain, fashionable clothes back then, and you couldn't wear those clothes - further reinforcing that you're different - you're the big one. You're not normal, like your friends.
Fast forward to now, maybe you still feel the same around your friends? Maybe you still feel the same in yourself.
I will show you how to test to see if your identity has not been upgraded after WLS.

Are you secretly eating and holding onto your excess weight as an act of rebellion?
This is related to my second pillar in my version 2.0 upgrade model, which is all about your identity. Who do you need to BE to make your WLS a success. We are actually clearing this block in the version 2.0 upgrade program next week.
Many clients that I work with are using food and their weight as an act of rebellion.
I will unpack the 3 reasons as to why you might be sabotaging yourself with food & regaining your lost weight.
If you'd like to clear this rebellion block at a subconscious level, send me an email at [email protected] and I'll share how you can do that.
If you have stalled or regained any weight after WLS, it could be that your psychological set point weight may be causing this to happen.
We have a psychological set point weight that can determine your current weight.
If your weight isn't where you want it to be, find out how you can find out your magic number that will change everything.
Message me to find out how to change your psychological set point weight [email protected]
There's a part of you that signed up to WLS wanting to change, and then another part that is eating chocolate every night. This is how sabotage plays out.
We are a sum of many parts. We have the part of us that wants the best for us, and yet another part that wants to stay safe.
Sabotage does not go away once your 'fix' your eating and weight.
Learn WHY you keep sabotaging yourself in this episode.
I want to talk you through goal weight trap that I see play out a lot with women...regardless of whether you have had surgery or not.
I had a session with one of my lovely 1 on 1 clients and it's her birthday in 2 weeks time and she wanted to be a specific weight for her birthday. She started tracking and counting and got a bit obsessive with it all.
Guess what happened?
She started to eat more. She started to sabotage herself.
Listen to find out more and to learn what needs to change to get back on your weight loss path.
If you want to learn more about how to clear your blocks around all or nothing thinking, control and self worth, send me a direct message and I can share more.
It's another personal share today around what I am doing to be my version 2.0 despite extraordinary and challenging circumstances...being stage 4 lock down here in Melbourne.
When I found out we were in stage 4 lockdown - I started to get into victim mode. I started eating.
I then realised that I have a choice.
Stay in victim mode, feel sorry for myself and let me circumstances control me…which would involve not doing the things that would really help me to thrive.
Or
I can put myself in the drivers seat of what I do have control over.
That's exactly what I did.
Join the conversation that I have with a WLS Dietitian, Julie Hennessy as we unpack some misconceptions about protein post WLS and how it could be leading to weight gain, and not weight loss.
You won't want to miss it!
Do you minimise your feelings? I did this last week in relation to stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions, and I ate!
Learn what happens when we minimise and intellectualise your feelings and how to turn this around to avoid weight gain.
What to learn more around how I did this, send me a message and I'll share it with you:
