One thing I have learned over the years of teaching women how to lose weight is that there is always nuance. The answer to most questions when weight loss is concerned should always be...it depends.
The decision for women over 60 to lose weight should be approached with consideration for individual health and well-being rather than adhering to societal expectations. It's crucial for older individuals to maintain a healthy weight to reduce the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and joint problems. However, the emphasis should be on overall health rather than solely on weight loss. Weight loss may be recommended for those with obesity-related health issues, but for others, the focus might be on maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet, staying physically active, and promoting overall wellness. Consulting with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian can help determine the most appropriate approach based on individual health goals, ensuring a holistic and personalized strategy for women over 60.
Strength training becomes increasingly important for women over 60 due to its numerous benefits that contribute to overall health and well-being. As women age, they naturally experience a decline in muscle mass and bone density, leading to increased vulnerability to fractures and decreased mobility. Engaging in weightlifting exercises helps counteract this trend by promoting muscle growth and enhancing bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Furthermore, strength training contributes to improved balance and coordination, crucial for preventing falls and maintaining independence. Beyond physical benefits, lifting weights can also positively impact mental health by boosting mood, reducing stress, and enhancing cognitive function. Embracing a weightlifting routine empowers women over 60 to lead active, vibrant lives, promoting longevity, and ensuring a higher quality of life in their golden years.
So listen in and get ready to push yourself to be the best version of yourself you can be!

On episode 25 of the Live Life Keto Podcast, Jennifer goes into detail about the 10 Habits of People who Lost Weight and Kept it Off.
It's 9:30am and I have already made my kids lunches, drove them to school, fed my dogs, drank my coffee, ate breakfast, planned my food and work for the day, walked my dogs, planned what new recipes and videos will be done this week, and now I am writing this post.
It didn't used to be like this. I used to lay on the couch looking on my phone until noon when it was time to eat lunch. I decided enough was enough and I got to work on building habits that keep me on task during the day so I get things done. This is important because our brain loves to build habits...it loves making our life easier. When we have habits, our brain doesn't have to use as much energy. On this weeks podcast, I go into detail of 10 habits (plus a bonus) of people who have lost weight and kept it off.In episode 24 of the Live Life Keto Podcast, Jennifer goes over 5 ways to shift your mindset and make weight loss easier.
