Jared Milrad sits down with award-winning filmmaker Farbod Ardebili about his Oscar-eligible short film, FORBIDDEN TO SEE US SCREAM IN TEHRAN, which focuses on a female Iranian singer who organizes an underground concert to challenge the government's ban on women performing music in public. Farbod opens up about his own background as a musician in Iran, and Iran's ban on western music, which was established in 1979. To this day, Iranian women are not allowed to sing or perform publicly, and live concerts are banned for female solo singers. Farbod also shares how he managed to make his film while still in Los Angeles, and how Hollywood can become more inclusive and impactful.
