There's a difference between humble confidence and fake humility, and confidence is rightly available to us in Christ. Now, there's nothing wrong with seeing ourselves how God sees us, and once we realize He loves us, and we grow to love Him, we can then love others just as we love ourselves!
God’s always at work, and wants to use us to accomplish what He wants done. If we make ourselves available to Him - so that if at any moment He calls us we’re ready to respond - we become a more useful tool for His work. As servants of God we’re all called to be available, prepared and useful for Him!
What Jesus did on the cross is a contract, signed in blood, irrevocable, unbreakable. We’ve been purchased in full and our sins covered once and for all, if we’d simply receive His gift, accept His contract of forgiveness and new life! And then we’ll live out the Great Commission to share our faith with others while we’re still here on earth.
God wants to utilize believers as a pipeline for Him to give to us, and through us to other people. All our material possessions, resources, finances, everything's been given to us by God, and sometimes He calls us into the simple act of obedience to give something away to someone else. When we trust Him and obey His call, He continues to provide for all that we need!
There’s a time when someone’s “the customer”, when they’re considering God’s offer of hope and eternal life through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Then, after becoming a Christian, we’re called into “service”, where we serve the “incoming customers” as they consider receiving salvation.
There’s never been a “ledger sheet” like it in the history of all creation! When Jesus willingly went to the cross on our behalf, EVERY sin-debt was stamped “paid in full”, inviting us to be reconciled to God through Christ’s once-and-for-all sacrifice.
He who knew no sin, didn’t just take on sin, He BECAME sin for us. Talk about things that aren’t fair! So when things don’t quite fall into perfect order for us, rather than “crying foul”, and blurting “no fair”, and complaining about it, let’s be mindful of keeping it all in perspective and be thankful.
