On this episode of Neon Galactic, I’m joined by my good friend David Stuss, a science educator from Camosun College in British Columbia, and a lifelong experiencer, to interview the brilliant cultural historian, author and astrologer Richard Tarnas, who is returning to the show for a follow-up to our initial conversation last year.

Tarnas is the founding director of the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness Graduate Program at the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco, and author of two brilliant books that have shaped my thinking around human history, and the nature of reality.

“Passion of the Western Mind: Understanding the Ideas that Have Shaped Our World View” is a review of human intellectual endeavor in the western world from the ancients up to the 20th Century.

“Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of  New World View” lays out Tarnas’s argument for the efficacy of archetypal astrology, and plumbs deep history for examples of how those cosmic forces have played out in human society.

In this conversation, we discuss the nature of archetypes, whether they’re capable of change, how they relate to human consciousness, and how they impact free will.

We also discuss the current moment, and how it’s reflected in astrological conditions, and whether skeptics and experiencers are feasibly made such by their natal charts.

Also, considering lessons from non-dual traditions worldwide, we examine whether contemplative growth and realization frees people from archetypal forces, or if that’s even possible.

On the UFO subject, we consider how archetypes may shape or inform people’s encounters with NHI, and whether recent reports of the divine feminine represent an archetypal alarm meant to herd us back to a more balanced psyche.
