Heading back into the Gospel of Luke, we will be exploring Luke 16:16–31 with Zane Elliott.

As we look at this passage today we’re going to wrestle with who we serve,  as we spend time looking at the claims of i) those who serve the law in vv.16-18. It’s the shortest section in the passage, but we’ll spend most of our time here before we move on ii) to those who serve themselves, in the story of Lazarus and the rich man in vv.19-31

This is one of Jesus most famous story sets; it’s an epic trilogy. These three stories, which show us the unfolding character of God, and show us two things about him; firstly: he is a good who is concerned for the lost he is;
 i)The God who searches, and when he finds what he is relentlessly seeking, the lost of this world, he rejoices; he is
 ii) the God who celebrates.

This morning we’re going to see the Saviour of the Lost explain what his kingdom is like: it's a kingdom where the important are brought low and low are elevated
 i) it’s an upside down kingdom vv. 1-24 It’s a kingdom which is free to enter but comes at great personal price.
 ii) It is a costly kingdom vv.25-35.
