I think most of us understand the traditional definition of porn addiction. Typically, it’s in the context of a guy lusting after a girl. Active lust toward another person is still the primary way porn is acted out in our culture.

A backward porn addiction carries a similar idea of lusting, but directionally it’s different. It’s when a person intentionally attempts to lure the gaze of another person through physical manipulation, either by what he/she is wearing or how they look. The motive is if you draw attention to yourself, you will feel better about yourself.

Have you ever read a blog title, looked at the picture, and moved on to something else? We all have. The blogger has 2.5 seconds to cause the reader to pause, think, and read their content. If they cannot accomplish this in 2.5 seconds, then the potential reader will never break stride.

Gone.

You may have amazing content, but nobody is reading it. There’s a reason for that. It’s your title (first) and your picture (second). If those two things do not tell your story in a way that captures the attention of your potential reader, then you will lose the reader.

One of the most redemptive things a Christian could do is stop reading so many books. Transformation comes through the Christian’s heart being transformed by the Spirit of God, as informed by the Word of God. If your self-help pursuits are not bringing you to that good end, then you may want to reconsider how you’re trying to change.

Paul framed change as happening in the spirit of our minds in Ephesians 4:23. He told the Christians in Ephesus that they needed to renew their minds. When he was talking to the Corinthians, he told them that the battle that breaks thought strongholds is not a fleshly endeavor, but a divine one (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).
